According to pokerscout Bovada's volume is about 1/10 of Stars. Good guess. And again I think the per hand profit is higher here. So considering some fudge factors, I'd estimate their poker income at.....$30-50 million per year.

Feel free to refine this number with better info anyone.

Same issue. Started playing two nights ago and got no sound plus the software is the laggiest it has ever been for me on my mac. Every time I try to click an action button it'll freeze and the mac spinning pinwheel will pop up and the software catches up a few seconds later.

It's almost unplayable on my mac now.

How is pokerscout getting numbers when full tables are hidden?

I think I've heard the answer to that before but don't recall it now. I had the same reaction.

Sorry, was going to leave a bigger reply and had something come up and had to take off for a while. Pokerscout admitted a while back that since full tables are hidden that their numbers are basically educated guesses.

Even so, $30-$50mil per year is still peanuts compared to their sports betting business.

Ugh not good news. I thought the pinwheel was my computer. Not sure why they keep changing software.

PokerStars had 1,300 employees a few years ago, according to Forbes. It's obviously hard to extrapolate that to Bodog, but considering that each Bodog skin has its own employees, if you total them all up, it's certainly possible that Bodog+skins could be close to that (could very well be less, but who knows). Using your estimation of poker income, that comes out to an average of ~$23,000-$38,000 per employee, annually. And with any company, the median is usually well under the mean.

I am looking at getting HI for Bovada strictly to track my hands because I think I will be playing mostly zone. Does this software track like Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager, or is this mainly for use as a HUD on this site?

Thanks

It is used mainly as a HUD. It does track your hands historically but there aren't many ways to evaluate them. I do like it though. Hope that helps.

I have been having issues with the bovada client. I am using windows 7 64 bit and its a brand new computer so i know its not the computer. Basically I log in " slowly" everything loads, when i register for a tournament it says " you are disconnected. Please try to connect again. then it says in chat box " You are disconnected from our server. Please try to connect again. If the problem Persists. Please contact our representatives. then after that it says " You've lost connection to our servers. We tried to reconnect you but failed. Yet i stay connected in the lobby. and am able to register for other tournaments. I know its not my internet because i have a macbook pro i use when this happens and just log into that and have no issues. However i would like to multi table and it makes it difficult because i cannot connect with 2 screens due to software issues. Anyone have any suggestions? is it security settings for my desktop? please help....

Why are you assuming each Skin as its own employees?

Where did you get that data on average employee salary .. and in what nation are you assuming these employees are living in?

I think you pulled all of this out of your ...... so not sure why this is relevant.

I'm not assuming. It's a fact.

By doing math. If you don't know how to find an average, I'm sure wikipedia (or any fourth grader) can tell you.

I'm not. And I actually have no idea why you think I'm assuming that. If you could expound a bit, maybe I can help make you understand.

They hire a lot of people from somewhere like the Philipines which I'm pretty sure have a much lower average income for this kind of thing.

I don't understand the PURPOSE of the math. You are dividing the total estimated poker profits of Bovada by the estimated number of employees to come up with an average salary for each employee.

There are so many problems with this. Help us if we misunderstood.

My point wasn't to compute an average salary of each employee (in fact, I never actually mentioned the word "salary", but that's mostly irrelevant). My entire point was that $30-50M a year isn't the mindblowing number that people were making it out to be, by showing that even if that entire $30-50M was cash flow, and even if you dole out that entire cash flow to employees salaries (they don't, they donate a lot to charities), then each employee gets what most people would consider to be a pretty small salary.

Perhaps I didn't address your problems. Maybe if you state them, I can better do so.
