A couple of questions about Bovada bankwires.....

1. Have they been working for anyone? I know I've seen a couple of complaints about them recently.

2. I've never done a wire, but am considering it just so I don't have to sweat bouncing checks. My issue is that I bank at a super small bank where most people there know me. What information is on a wire??? Will they know my business??? Do they contact me about the wire or does it go straight to my bank account???

I've done dozens of direct bank transfers, as well as checks since about '05 without any issues. So I maybe concerned for no reason. I don't know...

Perhaps I'm just better off opening a new account in a larger nearby city to do this type of transaction?

Honestly there have been many more problems with wires over the past few months then the occasional bad check. Just get a check and wait a week or so before you touch the $.

Need some advice on receiving my checks...

My plan is to play enough mid-high to receive a check every single week. But I will also be traveling frequently to play live poker for over a week at a time, sometimes twice per month. I live alone, so nobody will be home to sign for the check. How do I make sure that I receive all of my checks despite my frequent travel?

Is it possible to arrange to have the delivery guys leave the checks at my apartment leasing office?

If they are coming FedEx, you should be able to have them held at a local FedEx/Kinko's.

Oh, ok... didn't realize they will hold it for me. Will USPS and DHL do the same? I thought I read something about checks getting returned if I'm not there for the delivery attempts, which would obv be a major problem.

fedex is generally good about making arrangements if you contact them ahead of time.

still waiting for tracking on the above check, but another check request I made last week has already been processed and will arrive via Fedex in a couple of days....go figure.

went to bank..teller brought check to manager...he said check has us affiliate bank and routing # so it was cashed on the spot. FWIW this is a credit union.

I think your having a problem because you told them that is was from gaming...most banks have strict policies regarding online gambling, some won't even allow it...next time try something like consulting work, writing reviews online...etc.. I think you will have better luck along this line.

^^^+1 When I deposit my checks, I say hello and hand them my slip and check. I don't make small talk, just give them the check and I'm done in less than a minute. If by some chance the teller asks where the check is from, say consulting work, never say anything implying gambling or poker.

this is good advice, but that wouldn't make the check clear collections any faster

oh i know...was just saying that some banks would not even try to cash the check if they knew if it was from online gaming...most ive had to wait was 5 business days to clear...idk how these people are getting hit with 30 day holds. crazy imo, i'd be finding another bank.
