Actually, Bovada recommended Kraken.
It is a good choice for Canadian players.

I personally just like Kraken. I would rather sell a large amount of coin on Kraken than trust the price circle / coinbase is going to give me.

I also recommend using a personal wallet rather than using blockchain. But that is just me.

edit: looks like Circle is no longer an exchange. So coinbase it is? Why is anyone recommending Kraken?
Because Coinbase has high fees(1.5%). I always used circle, but even with them making this change, I'll never use Coinbase. Better to just use a full exchange like GDAX (which is operated by Coinbase), Gemini, or Kraken. The fees for buying/selling are significantly lower on exchanges.

Same. Everybody seems to default use blockchain.info, but I would never use them over a personal desktop wallet. Also, if you're holding btc and not simply transferring from your wallet to an exchange right away investing in a hardware wallet would be a good idea.

What are good US alternatives to Coinbase that allow you to deposit via debit card? My current limit on coinbase is 60/week and that is garbage! Too impatient to sit around waiting for verification stuff to go thru.

yea i was thinking this.

Ignition -> New address in your Blockchain.info wallet -> Exchange

It only adds minutes and a few cents to the process, no reason not to do it.

Thanks a lot for the great explanation!

I'm more worried about my computer blowing up or somehow losing my private key if it gets misplaced. Rather have it stored online with a recovery option.

Nobody is going to give you good limits without being verified. Just get it done, only need to do it once.

As far as circle, it appears you can still cashout with them according to their email. Im curious why people use kraken instead. Circle has always given me a good rate. Say I transfer 2k equivalent Usd from blockchain I always get like 2018ish on circle. Then it's in my bank in a couple days. I would think that would be better then what you would get at kraken especially after having to pay a commission on a sale.

You can only cash out what you have left on their site. They are no longer accepting new cashouts and are effectively no longer an exchange. They will not convert future BTC to USD, so for all intents and purposes they appear to just be a wallet now.

Yes. I don't know anything about personal wallets. If I had one, and my computer crashed, would all of my bitcoins be lost? Or is there a backup way to get them back?

You write down a key. Usually a sequence of words. It is really easy to get your coins back if the computer crashes.

Practice with a few dollars.

Yeah your funds are still in the blockchain so you dont actually lose the money, you just might lose your access to it if you lost your key. In the electronic age this idea of writing something down on a piece of paper just doesnt fly with me. I'd definitely lose something like that. Even if I had it in notepad on a thumb drive in my desk drawer it just feels more vulnerable than having it in the cloud. I feel like I can protect my PC from viruses/keyloggers better than I can a post-it note, so using an online wallet is fine. Their account databases are so well secured nobody is going to crack them even if they are stolen, and I keep my login credentials secured behind a password manager with equal levels of cypto security. The only thing I have to worry about is if someone gets my master PW to all my site logins.

I just signed up for Bitpay. It's a debit card with a bitcoin address attached to it. You can fund the card from your bank account, and then either use the card with merchants (gas, groceries, ATM) or xfer funds to blockchain/ignition and back. 0% conversion fee's, you'd only pay BTC miner transaction fee's which is like what 12 cents? And you dont have to worry about your bank wondering where all these deposits are coming from if you are a high roller and there would be no IRS reporting for large deposits. The card can hold up to 25k with 10k daily usage limit. The rest of your funds you can keep on IG or blockchain.

I just signed up with Kraken, but I don't know if it will be beneficial at all to me. I need a site like Circle where I could deposit 1-2K with my debit card. Is it possible to do this with with Kraken? The e-mail I received says "Your account is designated as a Digital Assets Only Account due to regulatory requirements in your state. We plan to support USD funding in your state and will contact you as soon as it is available." What does this mean? Can I fund the account electronically with my checking account? Please help, thanks.

Okay, I will try this out. Any recommendations for a personal wallet?

Yes it is. I just figured this out today fwiw. I applied to be tier 3 verified, was approved within a few hours. This increased my daily deposit to 25k per day / 200k a month via bank wire. $5 transaction fee

Thanks Natural945, I will get tier 3 verified ASAP. I only saw a bank wire option, but I didn't see anything about a debit/credit card option.

^ Same here, how do you go about getting verified for a debit/cc? Didn't see it as an option.

I had to scan it, no matter what I did, my webcam wouldn't pick it up.

Yo wtf? Who the hell recommends BitPay? I just found out they have $500/year transaction limit. This is a total joke of a card. They have an application to increase it but it requires much more documentation and info for tax reporting purposes.

Can't exactly scan yourself holding your ID by your face. Guess I didn't really explain it very clear.

I'm also not seeing any options to fund kraken via debit card or anything other than this SynapsePay bankwire option.
