I'd rather they guarantee $1,000,000 for making the final table.

Schedules and structure sheets for the 2015 WSOP come out in January.

Agreed 100%

Especially with the November 9 concept.

(but even w/out it)

This of course is largely part of the "Top Heavy vs. Flatter Payout Discussion.

This has me (a rec player) already planned a trip to vegas with my woman. So 15,000+2.

I've heard from rec player friends that they already can't wait as this is "the year they've been waiting for".

I haven't followed the wsop me the last few years but I turned on espn a few nights ago and the early itm payouts seemed really weak. A mincash should be at least 20k.

Does anyone know how long the rounds are in the $565 Colossus?

And am I understanding correctly that the $1000 NLHE events will now have 25-50 starting blinds and 5,000 starting stacks, instead of last year's 25-25 starting blinds and 3,000 starting stacks?

Also is it correct that the Monster Stack will have the same 15,000 chip starting stack, but the blinds will start out at 25-50 this year instead of the 25-25 last year?

view: I thinks it ridiculous to put the 10 Milly gtd 1st place on the WSOP main. It changes the whole payout structure of the best tournament in the world. People do not need the incentive to win 10 million for first, being the world WSOP ME Champion and winning 8 million or whatever the payout would be based on entries is fine. IMO, they are basically altering standard payouts of the WSOP main to market basically no one. Also the fact they don't facilate chops makes it even worse.

Edit: Some good changes besides leaving the 10 mill gtd

Chip values range from 3x to 10x of your buyin.
How many different chipsets do they have? Or better yet, how many do they need?

(And no, I'm not Christian Lusardi.)

So much better now. For one, recreational players are often drawn more to events with bigger starting stacks regardless of the actual structure. Secondly pre-ante 10 handed poker is awful. The faster the antes come in, the better.

Colossus gonna be great. Def making it to Vegas for first two/three weeks this year.
12-24-2014 , 12:38 PM
I'm hoping for 60 minute levels on the Colossus. Wish we didn't have to wait for January to find out.

The $565 is awesome for (us) rec players. I can guarantee that my friends and I will light some money on fire there.
12-24-2014 , 01:19 PM
Am I the only one who doesn't want deeper starting stacks? I mostly play the limit events, and so many tournaments start with stacks that are way too deep, and make the early levels completely meaningless.

The WSOP had actually been calibrating this reasonably well the last few years, especially in the higher-buy in events. If anything, I would like to see them structure the $1500 limit events more like the higher events, with shallower starting stacks but longer starting levels.

Couldn't agree more. I presume the FT will be on day 4. It'll be interesting to see if they schedule a 1k on that day too. They will be a lot of people with at least 1k burning a hole in their pockets...

Yes, you are (See the monster stack from last year).

Eliminating 25/25 to add 66% to stacks is a net loss in stack depth. I thought Jack Effel was above shady gimmicks like this to screw players but apparently not.
Winning a $565 tourney with 10k entrants is more impressive than winning a 10k limit 2-7 triple draw lowball with 60 entrants.

Yea, this. ^^ Winning small MTTSNGs aren't special.

By this logic, Doyle Brunson winning the ME back to back in 1976 (22 entrants), and 1977 (34 entrants) isn't "special" either.
12-24-2014 , 05:05 PM
Those are special in the sense that they are 'beginning times'. But if he were to win a 22 player tournament today it wouldn't mean anything.
12-24-2014 , 05:51 PM
The "Colossus" has got to be 30 minute blinds with at least 10000 entrants over 2 days (4 flights). No way hour blinds but who knows ?

If that's the case, then it's basically a daily deep stack that's slightly more expensive with a huge field.
