It makes sense.

3rd place is $2.2M more than 6th. Livingston is clearly eyeing that wants to keep his edge over the other 3 stacks.

The announcers hate to admit anyone is playing purely to ladder up because it's bad for TV. But I'm sure some of them are.

ICM math is hard to estimate without actually punching numbers in, but the QQ fold is somewhere between slightly bad and pretty good.

Don't get married to standard poker ranges dogmatically without thinking through whole context. Chipping up or doubling through big stack here do surprisingly little here for Alex's $equity and busting here is a total ICM disaster given his high likelihood at 3rd/4th place. Alex's bubble factor against Garry is MASSIVE (meaning the relationship of chips won vs chips lost vs Garry is exponentially worse than vs other players or compared to cash game setting). This relationship is also non-linear as the more chips he gets in vs him, the worse the bubble factor.

If I keep seeing nonsense about how bad this fold is i might have come out of retirement to do some math for the haters.
