Didn't mean to conflate cash and tournament play, was just thinking that I see people play poorly against a Hesp strategy in a cash game so could see people doing the same in a tournament.

You outline that a strategy against Hesp in a cash game is easy, but I guess it's not so easy in a tournament.

That's really all I meant. Hesp got far because he got lucky and people struggle against his strategy. He may have been on the right end of some butterfly effects but he also created some of his own, whether button clicking or not, he caused these players to make mistakes as well.

Never seen a shift of perception in poker like Hest. Antonio, Lon, Norm and everyone praising his antics and personality. Then he spews off his entire stack, and everyone kind of collectively realizes he's a luckbox with no clue what he's doing.

It didn't help matters that Hesp instantly became silent, lost all joie de vivre, and all the fun was sucked out of the room, which will hopefully change tonight. I can't stand players who are all talk when they have chips, lose a pot and reveal themselves to be who they are.

And yes of course, we'd all be tilting after blowing off 100 million, but it's his own fault 'cause he sucks.

This year is endlessly entertaining. Hopefully I can post here; I don't play much anymore but am a megafan of all things Main Event.

Everyone has known hesp was a luckbox since we learned what a hesp was

just started watching the final table and firt impression is that Hesp is exteemely annoying..asking every hand do you want to see what i have, GTFO .

Yeah if Hesp doesn't return to his charming self then it could be a pretty awkward about face from the announcers. Kinda like in 2015 when Antonio kept calling Blumenfield "the legend" but then as he started to fold his way out of the tournament the nickname became awkward. Even more awhward when he became a human builboard after he busted by pulling out a list to thank a million people and Kara had to actually tell him to wrap it up.

I think that's harsh on Hesp. He's been entertaining all the way through the torny, when you lose most of your chips like that almost everyone is going to be deflated. He only went back to doing what everyone else at that final table was doing, being silent, it's not like he was abusive or vindictive.

Salas stalls on his turn every time, even if he has junk. I think he just likes to look professional and get more air time.

I'm not saying he's a bad person at all. He's fun. I'd like him to be my grandpa. However, he got to the FT by spewing and pushing people around. The posters itt who said he acts entirely on impulse are correct. He plays like a caveman.

Lots of talk obviously about the AA v A10 hand. The way it played out and based on Blumsteins history in the event I cannot see any other hand he could have other than a set.
He checks flop to trap.Hesp check raises turn to trap but is then re-reraised to 17m by Blumstein.What other hand can he possibly have here other than a set? Blumstein would have C bet any other made hand or draw on the flop.

Hesp just has to win those spots. And he lost because he couldn't set his ego aside and think rationally about the hand and situation. He definitely blew up. It was a 'cooler' of sorts, but we're not talking quads vs. straight flush here, or even set over set. Those are coolers. This was stupid aggression and ego.

It would be nice that after doing these shows for over 15 years, Lon would be able to say the correct name for players (Blumfield more than once) and be able to read the board correctly. He rarely sees all the outs a player has and often miscalls their hand completely. He's very glib but too often clueless about what's happening. How many times does Norman have to correct him in his humorous way?

I think there is a good chance Ott is next man out, just like Lamb. Ott will be willing to put his chips in. Then Sauot just cuz he is soooo low. Then Hesp/Piccolivich. Salas, who we all hate will probably skate to 3rd/4th cuz he won't play a hand.

Also, I think Blum will have heard the feedback and will be more aggressive today. To his credit he got really bad cards after his double up yesterday. I think he would have mixed it up more with some decent hands...he did raise utg w/ 5-6 off.

Hesp might be a Luckbox but he is going to walk away with at least $1.4 million and that money isn't coming back to the states except for maybe $10K a year to enter Main Event.

Hesp seems likely to benefit more from the break in play than anyone else. Hopefully he can run it up enough to bank a 3rd or 4th place.
