WPT Top 10 Cashing %: Chainsaw doesn't make the cut WPT Top 10 Cashing %: Chainsaw doesn't make the cut

So Negreanu put together some stats on ROI for WPT players. You can find the blog post here.

The interesting thing is that he tabulated the top 10 cashing % and chainsaw was nowhere to be found.

Top 10 Players Based on Cashing Percentage:

1. Casey Kastle 30.0%
2. Stan Goldstien 26.7%
3. Nenand Medic 25.9%
4. Dave Ulliot 25.8%
5. Can Kim Hua 25.7%
6. David Oppenhiem 25.6%
7. Chris Bell 25.5%
8. David Chiu 25.0%
8. Dteve Sung25.0%
8. Lee Markholt 25.0%

Error on DN's part? All that stalling not paying off?

Dteve Sung is really good.

+1, totally classless

Chainsaw doesn't have to cash a lot because he always final tables when he does.
10-21-2009 , 01:37 PM
Classless, inappropriate...

How is this any different from seeing results on Sharkscope or Tableratings?

Fairly interesting analysis.

He acknowledges that the sample size is too small:
"In my spreadsheet, I only included players who played a minimum of 30 events. Even at 30 events, it's not a large sample by any stretch of the imagination, but I had to cut it off somewhere and 176 players qualified. Since I did it all by myself, I wasn't about to include anymore than that."

I'm curious where he got the information, though. Is there a site that I don't know about that lists tourneys entered? I only know of sites that list cashes.

pretty sick that he lists the bottom 10 and sticks in a needle about staking.

His earnings per event numbers only seem like they would mean anything if all the events have the same buyin.

Also, +1 to those who say that calling people out for being losing players, or for having losing results, is inappropriate.

I agree that it seems very wrong to be posting what he is posting, and also likely hurting his and others bottom line. And I don't think this is one of those 'its a level' blogs, because those numbers seem justifiable, at least the top earners list.

Why is it wrong? All the info is available at the WPT site.

Stop being such crybabys about posting stats.

it's a good thing that daniel negreanu started to keep track of these details.

there's been a surprising absence of sources that track a players results.

someone should make an official poker ranking site.

its easy to beat on the nvg punching bag when its already made acceptable. so what? give the guy a break

Stop being such crybabys about posting stats.

what do most people think about the WPT making these stats available?

Part of me thinks it good because it introduces a sport like feel and legitimacy to the poker tournaments but then again it kinda feels like they are breaking a gambler's code by releasing this information for the public to see.

Good thing there isn't the equivalent to cash games....oh wait.

There was an interesting exchange on the last PAD cash game a few weeks ago that I haven't seen mentioned. Durrrr asked Patrick how much he was down and Ivey quickly looked at Durrr and said, "What did I tell you about that?" There was a split second of awkward silence, and then Ivey smiled at him and it was over.

I got the impression he was serious though in his intent. Now granted, he was asking a huge winning player in poker on a televised cash game where his loss was being well documented, but I think his point was made.

Slightly different but related:

There has been countless times where I have been in a live cashgame and a winning player at the table will complain outloud about only being up some nominal figure after playing for so many hours for the whole table to hear. I think this is in bad form. I usually say something like, "we all can't win" to try to remind him or her that most of the table is losing and they shouldn't make it so obvious they are expecting to make money against the line up and hope they get what I'm trying to convey.

also felt a little weird that he lists the top 10 women players, noting that only ~3 are profiting

Top Ten Players Based on Final Table Percentage is a pretty sick list of players.
