PPA has lobbyists working Capitol Hill. Grassroots efforts augment that. We're certainly not limited to Twitter and Facebook. Many of us send Congress a prewritten letter each six weeks and call with about the same frequency. Many meet with their senators and congressmen when those lawmakers are in town. Some even volunteer to help pro-poker lawmakers in their campaigns. And, many become paid members of PPA to show solidarity and to help fund the lobbying effort.
The social media outreach is about us demonstrating support for our position, showing a strong level of organization, and showing that the opposition is not all our opponents claim them to be (We rarely see much, if any, anti-gaming grassroots action on social media).
