Some of the other plays were pretty punty as well if you factor in ICM. The dude who open-jammed K9o for 15bb or something UTG comes to mind lol.

I wouldn't call that boring.

Seems like tournament poker is alive and well and it will probably never die.

As for the "USA" chants, I don't mind them BUT busting your opponent who has just made the biggest $$$ mistake of his life (Walton vs Jachtmann) and not even showing the courtesy of shaking his hand because you're too busy high-fiving your full blown ****** cheering section is just disgusting.

I mean what do you expect from Simple Jack? He went full rerard.

Anytime someone stepped up and tried to gamble it was proclaimed “he was punting!” The Spaniard’s reraise with 53s would have worked if guy behind him didn’t wake up with a premium hand. Then people proclaimed that the other shorties were smarter and appropriately waiting him out.

Then Jachtman tried to win through aggression in a few hands but Jones just happened to have the goods.

Yeah would have liked to see someone shaking Jachtman’s hand, what were other two guys doing? He just walked off stage lol

Jachtmann said in the interview with Kara afterward that he thought they were stopping at 4. (Which it does say on the structure). So he was already planning dinner in his head and mentally checked out when it got to 4.

And him being 55 years old, probably a bit harder to turn it back on again compared to his opponents. Which could explain the poorly played hands shortly after that.

And yeah that’s why I asked yesterday if Jachtmann had done something because they all seemed rather cold to him after the elimination. Usually the main event final tables become hug each other love fests.

100%. The older you get you tend to budget your energy for the exact amount you think you need, and there isn't much left in reserve. Like when Tom Watson almost won the British Open at age 59, but then just fell apart in extra holes.

That’s on him to stay mentally engaged, he had an entire day to rest up and at that point they had only played for around 5 or 6 hours. Was not unreasonable for TD to decide to carry on to make sure today wasn’t insanely long.

As far as the no hug or love fest, the other guys were celebrating and he walked off before they got untangled it seemed.

Yeah they could have and should have shook before all that, but not a direct shunning it seemed. Usually the guy knocked out waits a few seconds more but certainly not obligated

Not that it matters but I’ve always been curious how chopping is supposed to work here if WSOP doesn’t honor it. Someone’s gonna be reported as 12.1MM in gambling winnings, are taxes factored in on the chop?

did you catch what Jones said right after Jachtmann busted and the three Yanks came together: "USA is right (referring to the ongoing chant in the background). USA. All the USA."

butt hurt Euro alert

order of who i want to win: Jones, Walton, Weinman
Not sure if this is a troll post but it sounds like you think Euro is a country.
Euros as you call them are the furthest it is as rooting for each other, and that sentiment of belonging in a tribe is nowhere to be found (maybe <1% ?) .
So I really hope your post was a troll otherwise it's the closest to a caveman view of the world we've got here.

Personnaly I hate any kind of loud rail wherever they are from.
This is like a complete circus, must be really hard to stay focused.

I think his read was probably accurate, a scarf guy will tend to root for another scarf as opposed to a boorish American. But his post is probably playing around

I do agree though that I hate the new setup ever since they went to “Mothership” and actively make audience part of the show. Bring back 2005 where light is only on the table and crowd blacked out.

So which of the final three is the most 'amateur'/rec player. Is it Walton? Or have they all spent years and years playing?

Jones based on results. A $57,000 win was his previous best.

Weinman way ahead of both. He was a finalist for WSOP player of the year last year. But maybe still a surprise because he is more of a mixed game player than a NLH one.

Im surprised by Jones lack of results, he seemed to be playing very good, him and notontilt09 were by far the 2 best players at this final table. Also he had Alex Foxen in his rail, maybe white dudes shaped like football players just like hanging out with each other.

I hope to hear of the winner not honouring the deal as its non binding

It's binding if they got a lawyer to draw up contracts and got them signed last night, right?

If a deal is made, it is legally binding.
Doesn't even have to be written. If you don't believe me, ask Jamie Gold.

No way Walton would be talking about his hand like that, if a deal wasn't made.
