That "USA" chant is always cringe with me, but especially at an event where half the people are American.

Seems like a bad play from Weinman to raise into the shorty's BB with just Td8d? A playable hand against a deep stack, but not really a hand that wants to play against a random BB hand that essentially can't afford to fold. In this case if Weinman folds, Maceiras is probably in there with KQ and would've stacked Holzner. Could have an interesting butterfly effect for the rest of the tournament if Holzner can spin it up. OTOH Weinman benefits from people nitting it up for pay jumps, so maybe he didn't care either way.

I love that Weinman doubled this dustball stack and now Maceiras is the short stack

Yeah it is, but tbf the Brazilians, English, French etc always have nationalistic rails.

This, IDK why it's more or less cringe than any other flag waving country-chanting rail

Remko and Donnie Peters do a fine job on the YouTube broadcast.

I paid to hear Lon miscall every hand, and Norm do trivia. All while Maria thinks 99% of spots are folds

It's amazing that after 20 years Lon still can't read a board/call a hand

And he's outflopped by A6... As a 6 is right in the window
Oh, I didn't see the k8, I'm sorry so and so flops 2 pair

Interesting dynamics now. Big gap between the top 4 who are bunched together and the bottom 3 stacks who are also bunched together.

Steven jones reminds me of that card rack Nick Manion, a few years ago who was the most ABC player ever and caught cards to build up a big stack.

Jones does seem a bit better than him though so many he can do s better job maintaining the lead.

I feel like this is destined to join 2007 and 2017 as one of the most forgettable Main Event final tables.

I'm not trying to be overly negative. It's just been pretty tight, passive, and ABC.

Totally understand why these guys would skew cautious in such a huge spot. I'd probably do the same.

It's not great TV though. This crew is really missing the big name superstars, reckless recs, and wild degens.

I echo the sentiment that last year's crop of players felt a lot stronger, even if none of them were poker-famous either.

So I think nationalistic chants in general are kind awkward but let's say one Brazillian came to the US and made the final table and he has a few friends with him from Brazil. It makes more sense because he's a lone Brazillian in a foreign country doing well at a competition that's usually dominated by the home country. But chanting "USA!" when 3-5 of the players are in the US, the US usually dominates the event, and it's hosted in the US is just bizarre. Like, if it were all Americans left at the FT, you'd find "USA! USA!" chants to be weird, right? It's still weird with half Americans too.

Yeah I agree this has been fairly dull so far. No real interesting spots/hands or decisions yet.

But I would day 2007 is one of the most memorable! Yang going from bottom stack to winner by becoming a crazy aggressive player overnight. The Childs fold, the Watkinson wife/Yang prayer off, the Philip Hilm blowup. It was classic!

2015 was the worst by far IMO. McKeehen won easily without any spot of bother. That table also had zero interesting hands.

Agree that 2017 wasn’t that good. Hesp blowup Vs Blumstein the only interesting thing.
