For the players involved, a deal is obviously better.
But thinking more about it, there is something against the spirit of the game in what was displayed tonight.
The whole event is built around the amount of money up top ( let alone the emphasis with the shotgun guy).
You basically want to see a 6 M $ pot at some point. But no, everyone is cool and friendly, there is no antagonism going on, and especially no tension at all.
Imagine Djokovic and Alcaraz dealing for the Wimbledon finals ( even though the Title means more).
Making a deal for the wsop is in line with the reality and the essence of the game but makes for bad competition and tv.
