it looks like this is a serious post bc i see you posted similar in another thread

PokerGo continues to fail the poker community in its coverage of the year's marquee event -- Vegas' WSOP

how dare paying customers expect the media outlet of the WSOP to cover history in the making! am i doing it right?

ok good then. it sounds like we're on the same page that PokerGo should be in a position to bring big moments like last night/this morning to their paying customers

It's sarcasm dude.
PokerGo people need to sleep just like the rest of the world.
They're not at Phil's beck and call.
Reading comprehension is hard.

my initial read was right then in that you believe we should be fine w PokerGo not capturing what could be the second biggest moment of this year's WSOP

it's an awful take on your part. a business tasked w doing a job shouldn't be expected to carry out said job. k gotcha. nvr head up a biz i invest in

countless epic WSOP moments have taken place in the wee hours of the morning. no worries, call it day ladies and gents and rest up for that truly epic Seniors pushfest tmr night!

No coverage of Hellmuth win, 10k 2-7 with brewer going for 2nd bracelet or 50k PLO. Coverage has been pretty decent so far but come on. I mean I’m sure we’ll get a bunch of Day one Main coverage that no one cares about.

Your post is so obviously sarcastic that its clear your view is that PokerGo should not be expected to provide good coverage of WSOP during WSOP because some of it will fall on holidays and/or late at night. Hes reading your post correct and responding to your view.

Hes also saying your view is idiotic, which it is.

Imagine having a product centered around covering some sort of holiday events like Christmas related shows, and then delivering a shoddy product with the reasoning "its the holidays, our staff cant work right now". Thats basically your argument here.

They could easilly have overhead cams of the feature/final tables running 24/7. It would cost next to nothing.

Think it's more a combo of bad luck and burnout than anything else. Those earlier days of 50k PPC and 250k is some of the best coverage but its taxing doing it all day. Things like a super long limit final table may have been better skipping. Overall the amount of poker shown has been great, i know it's tough but maybe changing up some commentators would be nice. In the end though, it's just crazy unlucky that one of the least likely events to be interesting has that lineup.

There is a wide range of elegance at this final table. Is the one seat wearing a stained sweatshirt?

Weve known for years that paying for a pokergo sub makes you a sucker. Insane you can miss a final table with Ivey and Helmuth.

CBS Sports owns the WSOP/Pokergo rights correct? They did the same thing today with Rickie Fowler's win, they didn't air it live, I think some of it was on ESPN+ etc. and then before it finished they cut it all off and aired it after the fact hours later on CBS. lol

that is s.o.p. for TV networks when the PGA Tour has to move up 4th round tee times due to weather. will always be tape-delayed on the major network

not making a comment on how streams handled this

I would love to make a poll to see how many people would watch limit FT with just overhead cam camera no commentary

I still think its better than no stream

It’s a problem but not a hard one to solve. Everything can be done remotely with low cost.

Yeah Vegas has a union and crew needs time off. All they need is have everything on a long delay.

Hire a trusted team that can work off site is fine too. Have commentators talk from there home even, and a producer control each camera remotely, not a hard job. Multiple cameras stay on, that’s it.

Go back to top notch production when the crew goes back to work after a night’s sleep.

Is there a chance that the start time is 10pm on Poker Go

And before that on YouTube

With the A-Team commentating on Poker Go [I guess Nick or Lon and Norman] and a B-Team on You Tube?

It will either be that - or they don't deem the first half of the day all that interesting. As I guess the blinds are too tiny - it would be like covering a cash table... rather than a more rollercoastery big blind and ante game of late tourney monkey shove fest fun?

Though there may be little difference between the first half and second half of play on a ME Day 1.

Maybe many big names don't come early... so they want to wait...

Or it just means they can cover the day with just one crew rather than needing to pay an entire new crew to cover both halves of the first week of day ones

PokerGo did this last year covering the Main as well. For all but the last couple of days, coverage started late and lasted a few hours a day. I wouldn't expect much if any more than about 3 hours a day of coverage for these days 1 and 2.

Today's coverage starts at 9PM CST

It boggles the mind how they can start at 7PM PST but not 5 hours earlier for what they claim is their marquee event that draws in the most subscribers

Oh and to make it worse, they start Main Event coverage at 9PM CST Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
not until Friday do they start before 9PM.

I swear, if you told me the CEO was he!! bent on destroying PokerGo I dont think they would do anything differently

This is hard not to mock.
So they players can play for 10 hours a day, but providing commentary for that long is "taxing" and "tough"?

Must suck to get paid to literally watch poker and comment on it.
I know I'd resign right away if you told me I had to stay up to watch the two Phils battle it out deep into a superturbo
since you know . . . IT'S MY JOB

its the 6 biggest weeks of the year, you can tough it out
I mean, what do you think oil rig workers go thru?
They leave their families for weeks at a time all year long

The excuse making for PokerGo is almost as bad as those trying to find ways to say Hellmuth isnt the greatest WSOP tourney player of all time

The more I think about it the early levels day 1 are unlikely to make for compelling hours of unedited TV.
1) odds of having multiple recognizable faces at a table are low
2) not a lot of bust outs so pretty static players at the table makes it hard to go grab Phil Ivey, ray ramano or Boston Rob etc
3) 150-300bb deep poker without action inducements (straddles, vpip or stand up game etc) just not that exciting to watch

well

add in they have to randomise which table they feature.

Not sure if that counts for the ME too... but players had complained [maybe Ivey] - so this year they had to randomise and not pick tables

If that counts for the ME too... then the chances of getting anyone well know on day 1... is slim
