I like this story this is pure class. Most gamblers would not of payed Reese debt in this situation after Reese passed.

This is why I consider it more of a hustle than a scam.
Sklansky wrote about this guy in one of his earlier books. Pretty sure it wasn't really a scam - the back story was BS but the guy was calling heads/tails on the square

I would cry from shame and question my manhood daily, but Ill be damned if at the end of the quarter my sales hadn't tripled.

My only Ivey story

Had never played with Ivey before. Had an open seat at our 1500 PLO table blinding off for a while.

At 50/100, Ivey shows up with about 4000 chips left talking about how he's deep in a Stud event and on the first hand limps blind. Action behind goes pot repot. Folds back to Ivey. He calls Phil Hellmuth over and says 'Hey Phil i'm probably about to be all in' or something to that effect. Ivey squeezes his cards in an obvious way so that Hellmuth standing behind him can see (I can also see them as i'm sitting next to him) and slowly reveals QT86 single suited.

Ivey YOLO's his stack in as soon as he sees that he has random live cards and gets in a 3 way all in against AAxxds and KKxxds. Flop J92r, turn 3x giving Ivey a life flush draw somehow. River bricks and the aces guy wins the hand. Ivey casually says nice hand and wanders back to the Stud tournament.

Interesting that Phil Ivey and Abe Mosseri were playing heads up in Bobby's room the other night until 4 am. Something Mosseri said in that interview that they did not do anymore. Mosseri best him for 300 k. It was obvious Mosseri was stumbling over a lie. Almost like he was told what to say. I wonder why?

"apart from side bets, tournaments and stuff like that" - Abe Mosseri

Maybe Abe was just in a mood to play some cards.

Only Ivey encounter I've had:

I was at the draw party for the NBC HU last year. As they are drawing names, Oppenheim and Schulman are taking turns setting lines for each match.

I think Ivey and Laak were the last two names drawn. After he takes the photo with Laak, Ivey loops around to near Schulman / Oppenheim and realizes that the line has been set at Ivey -160. Keep in mind that the NBC HU matches have very shallow structures.

Ivey hears the line and scoffs at the idea that he's such a big favorite and remarks that he'd actually like to bet on Laak at that line, but he wants at least a million.
