Found this very interesting. Towards the end Rickard Sklar talks about how Phil Ivey is by far the classiest gambler he's every been around in 40+ years. It's funny because Richard Sklar is one of the biggest scumbags in gambling history. Card cheat, fixed hundreds of horse races....went to prison for race fixing etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xgi99wexbQ

The guy needs to work on his story telling teqnigue because it's seriously sh*t.

Also his best two Ivey stories are he won some money off him playing golf and he watched him play high stakes plo online and thought he was terrible.

I just always find in interesting that Mike Sexton is considered maybe the classiest man in poker and his best friend was Stu Ungar and now Richard Sklar and they are such cheating, lying, lowlife drug addicts etc. You are the company you keep. Would it surprise anyone if Sexton was as shady as the day is long? Poker is just so full of lowlifes and untrustworthy people.

Here's a like to an old Richie Sklar post from some old poker forum. I don't know how many unsavory things this guy has done but I know for a fact the race fixing stuff is true and he wound up in prison for it. http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/s...8&page=4&pp=15

I know a few poker players and all of them are honest players/people. maybe you should find a new circle of friends

Your response makes zero sense.

I enjoyed that segment, and also the Abe Mosseri online PLO and triple draw story, but disappointed that Sklar is sketchy.

I do hope the stories keep coming though. Abe and Sklar praised Ivey to the heavens. The baller stories and private jet edge sorting gambling image seems all true.

I've talked to two different recreational poker players who ran into Phil around town and while he was a bit aloof, he went out of his way to be nice to a couple fans. Always nice to hear stories like that. Test of a man is how does he treat someone who cannot benefit him ?

sklar says phil is the classiest but when he gave his example on the golf course where phil says he wants 100k a hole in a cocky manner, it doesn't really prove his point at all.

I'll never forget when Phil had a lower straight against live cash game specialist Tom Dwan. Ivey saw Dwan's hand and said......

"Damn"

Or the time he had trip Jacks heads up against liver damage specialist Scotty Nguyen only to find Nguyen had trip kings He went....."lol"

Lots of great Ivey stories.

One of my favorite Ivey stories is how he approached Doyle about repaying whatever his outstanding debt was to Chip Reese at the time of Reese's passing.

He could just as easily ignore the debt and no one would know, but he wanted to make sure he honored it.

I love Ivey but what in the world would Sklar know about class? He's a guy that has cheated millions of people and is also a rat. Might as well ask Chino Rheem who he finds classy.

Stu Ungar was never a scumbag he just had a severe addiction to drugs and Sexton, as his friend, and what any good friend would do, did his best to help him in times of need. IE putting him up in a hotel and allowing him to charge whatever food and movies to the card and providing $100 a week allowance. Who knows how many times Stuey picked up tabs and helped Mike out when he was down. This thread makes no sense.

Learn what you are talking about. Ungar's father was a loan shark and Stu was backed by the mob. Yeah he's not a scumbag he was a real prince. Phil Galfond he wasn't

First off his dad ran books and I don't see what that has to do with being a scumbag. Secondly, what does being "backed" by the mob have to do with being a scumbag? He actually owed them a ton of money and that's the reason he moved to vegas, was to get out of debt so he could move on with his life.

I'm not sure it is common knowledge, but Sklar was the guy behind the Iceman coin flipping scam/hustle at the Bellagio.

Stu Ungar was addicted to gambling and cocaine. Was he a good guy with a monkey on his back, or was he a degenerate scumbag ?

It's the "chicken or the egg" debate.

I always thought Sexton's support for his f*&^ed-up friend was admirable.

I can't believe people are dissing Sexton for supporting a struggling friend. Bobby Orr took care of Derek Sanderson when he was broke and battling drug addiction. Bobby Orr must be scum...

This is why I consider it more of a hustle than a scam.
