Do you belong to the large crowd of players who don’t, for whatever reason, multitable cash games? Then you’ll welcome our new table type – Casual Cash Games. These tables work just like normal cash games but are only open to players who play a single cash game (tournament games can still be multitabled). Initially they’ll only be available at a limited stake levels but expect that range to expand soon. Casual Cash Games are marked by a smiley in the cash game lobby.

this actually seems like a much better idea than the hidden games based on how successful you've been that revolution (and party?) was/were doing

Boss poker network used to do this years ago. I used to just 1-table their site and play on others.

So a poker site is actually introducing something which means they won't be able to rake their players as much. Who'd have thought it?

This is obviously bad. Now multitablers will have fewer fish to fry, and party poker gets to rake more hands from the fish. The real answer is what someone said above, multitable another site and just play one table on party.

great idea, but as soon as there are 3-6 and 5-10 casual table, you can except a multitude of regs to play one table party on the side. I will be one of them.

Whether it's good or bad, at least it's fair and doesn't give less options to some players than others, unlike their segregation plan.

I think I remember Party doing something like this way back in the day too.. beginner's tables where you could only play there during your first month of being registered or something. Could be remembering incorrectly though.

Yes, they did that.

Party may be doing this as a gimmick to attract fish but anyways it's nice to see a site actually taking a measure that helps with the sustainability of the game. Versus other innovations such as FTP's Adrenaline Rush for ex.

Guess FTP took their idea from them then. Except FTP does it by # of hands.

that's true, but (if i remember correctly) those tables were dead within few months. Recs don't like to start tables or play 2-3 handed, so games had troubles starting with such a limited player pool.

Not necessarily. The closer the skill gap between players, the longer money stays on the table, and the more rake is taken. However the skill gap between fish1 and fish2 is still likely to be wide, plus a table full of fish are most probably going to be splashing chips around all over the place resulting in a lot of short lived sessions for players.

Yes they had beginners tables, I was accussed of being a pro stealing the new players money once at a 1-2 limit table when I refused to tell the guy what I had when he folded the river

If I remember correctly I gave him a line I had heard on TV "You have to pay if you want to see the cards"

Now understand what older people mean when the say things were better in the past

it's a good idea and they're not changing the other tables, i'm curious how many people will choose to play these tables

they're also gonna get a bunch of "pros" playing in that game, adding the 1 table while grinding some other site

Very reasonable move by Party -- or at least far less objectionable than blatantly segregating games by player winrate.

The intent, of course, is the same: protecting fish from predatory regs, but at least the mechanism is fair / skill-neutral. I anticipate this will be extremely effective (after all, how many big fish multi-table...I'd put the # at < 2%)...Party's only challenge will be publicizing the availability of these tables. I think you'll see a lot of sites following suit with this strategy.

Mmmwwwahh...yes, the thought behind this, seems ok to me too.Tbh , most pokersites are filled with multitabling, break-even,rakeback chasing addicts,so maybe this might create a somewhat nicer environment for recreational players.Interesting to see how this goes, but a +1 from me for this effort to sustain/improve balance in the poker ecology.
