LOL at blaming MP mods. People dont fill out an application to get approval. The mods just make sure they meet the minimum requirements and their IP isnt linked to anyone shady and they havent just posted a bunch of random BS to get their post count up. All you could blame is 2p2's system for approval but getting approved already takes a couple days and if you make in an in depth application then its gonna be way more work for the mods and youd prob have to start paying them.

Besides, it looks like he sold most of his action outside of the thread, and one of the first posters said "youre nick rainey right" so everyone after that knew who he was and had the chance to research him. And all it would have taken is for one of you guys to report the post and he probably would have gotten shut down.

Id guess that most of the people who invested in him knew about his sketchy past, but didnt care because he was a sick grinder and had a deep run last year.

there are two possibilities.

1) Nick lied about people (mods and higher) being aware it was him on the account. I mean if you read his posts prior to say March and are aware of rainey's background it starts to mesh pretty well, but this is simply his story that he got outright permission. to stir the pot a bit I'll challenge him to name specific names or give a more detailed account of how that went down.

2) someone decided to allow him back- at which point imo it should have been under his old account. If this happened it's disturbing that nobody put the note "this is Nick Rainey" on the new account in his mod notes.

if #1 is true, marketplace mods had really only once chance to catch this- by someone reporting the thread/s. if #2 is true then marketplace mods were impaired by sloppiness outside of their control.

Really? Have you ever met a USC guy? There are bunch of losers out there who are the reason it got the nickname is U of Spoiled Children, and not just football players. I feel bad for upstanding USC grads who have to deal with the public douchiness of guys like Nick being so prominently related to their university.

I bought a piece of him in last years M.E and he did pay me back. I could be wrong but to sum him up he used 2+2 as an attempt to gain fame and used some gimmicks in an attempt to get signed by a website etc.

The Nick Rainey story is pretty simple. He's a 30 year old grifter/hanger-on who is desperately trying to make it some how. He went from being a good-looking tennis stud at a school that has won 3 straight national championships in tennis, to someone with zero life skills trying to find the fame and/or wealth that the people he's surrounded himself for years have. He'll keep scamming until all of the enablers are gone and then he'll just be another has-been, coulda-been, telling stories about how he can throw a football over the mountain. Throw in some drugs and some destructive behavior and you've got yourself an inevitable train wreck. I have no schadenfraude for the kid despite our previous dealings - I hope he gets his ***** together. I wouldn't stake that endeavor, however.

I lived in southern California for 4 years and if you meet a stuck up, self absorbed, thinking theyre better than everyone else person; theres a good chance he/she went to USC. And theres also a good chance theyll let you know they went to USC within the first 5 minutes of a conversation.

Seriously. There's something wrong with USC. I'd wager that a good 60-70% of the people I know who went there are tremendous d-bags and she-bags.
