Ivey needs to step up Ivey needs to step up

I just read a very well written post called the Ivey mindset which basically says Ivey is the greatest. While he is undoubtedly number 1 in the poker world and has done great things for charity his friends and family I would like to point out why I am not a fan.

1. With people dying everyday fighting wars and millions of Americans out of work and trying to figure out how to put food on the table and pay for medicine..Ivey's biggest problem is giving interviews.
I work full time and struggle to keep up with rising costs of living and when I tune in to watch an interview with my (former) favorite player I am put off by his eye rolling and general lack of effort to even disguise his annoyance at awnsering questions that his fans want the awnsers to. He says he'd rather be golfing..what a tough life. I don't begrudge him whatsoever for his success..I think he truly deserves everything he gets. But dont tell me you would rather be golfing then awnsering a few questions for your millions of fans.

2. Ivey is not just a poker player but as one of the major faces of Full Tilt Poker which has the major slogan of "learn chat and play with the pros" he probably should at least pretend he cares about the hundreds of thousands of small stakes players that look up to him. I completely understand him not chatting when playing the nosebleeds but how about living up to your slogan every once and a while and play a bit smaller every now and then and chat with the small and micro stakes players. Or maybe just participate in Full Tilts own academy..or just once post something in your own forum on Full Tilt.I think as long as I see commercials of Ivey saying to come play at Full Tilt he should (along with the rest of Team Full Tilt) make good on their slogan.

Now before anyone jumps down my throat remember I think Ivey is a great guy.. he does so much for charity ..friends and family..I just think he should do more for his fans while he is with Full Tilt.

I definitely see where your coming from. It's 100% not his obligation to do the things that you mentioned. BUT, as the dominant face in poker, it would be good for the game if he was more of an ambassador.

He bought a Bugatti Veyron. Isn't that good for the economy?

Imagine how much it would have sucked if you typed all that and a mod would have closed your thread before anyone even answered.

The attitude is good for his image and by extension the game.

There are tons of poker players whose lives are open books, Ivey need not join them.

He could if he wanted to of course, but obv players wouldn't always be dying to know more about him and his life if they knew more about him and his life.

Think like this: http://videolog.uol.com.br/video.php?id=440339

Bugatti was never Spanish, it is based in France but for all intents and purposes the Bugatti Veyron benefits the German economy as it is owned by Volkswagen.

I think you are stuck in 2008. Ivey has actually gotten alot better at doing interviews, and has been a lot funnier and more personable in his recent tv appearances.

I get what you're saying OP but ivey (or anyone else) doesn't owe us anything. If the man wants be to left alone to live life and play poker then whats wrong with that.
