LOL at people in this thread thinking you can get a reading on someone's pulse just by grabbing their wrist for an instant so the hand should be declared dead for that reason. Villain obviously did this as a joke.

BTW, Matt Savage responded to Drinan that he had done the very same thing last Wednesday in a charity event. And yes, I understand that a charity event is a different milieu; but still, the keyboard warriors in this thread all threatening to retaliate by punching the villain are just plain ridiculous.

Grab his balls to see if they are big enough to call your bluff.

If they are, don´t let him feel your pulse.

FWIW the live tells obtained from this have nothing to do with his pulse.

It probably was a stupid joke from someone not capable of gleaming any information anyway but the response/reaction would be very telling (stoic/calm is weighted towards bluffing and freak out/talks/moves/smiles/etc is weighted towards value)

As for the actual invasion of personal space, I think the underreacting people itt are underreacting, and the overreacting people itt are overreacting.

When touching a Player like this there's definitely the possibility of him giving up huge live tells. If the pot is big enough compared to the blinds the EV of trying this might of course be high enough to make it worth if the only pusnishment was a 1 round penalty.

There is only one way to make sure it is never "+EV" for a player to do this: he automatically loses the pot. It doesn't matter if the guy in the actual situation was joking or not. As a general rule, only "the player's hand is folded" leaves no room for possible angles/exploits.

Your reaction to his grabbing your arm is probably more telling then the pulse.

If you complains and want villain's hand dead, you probably don't want a call, etc... If you laugh it off you want the call?

IMO, this should be a dead hand, hero drags pot, villain gets a warning for angling.

How would that be different from any state of poker ever?

I don't see the old Texas road gamblers taking kindly to being physically touched during a hand.

Also, the whole point is the unfair access to information this provides as soon as the action here took place.
LOL at an informational advantage. The guy would have to be concentrating on his watch while feeling his pulse for 10 seconds to get an accurate reading. Just pull your arm away? That said, it's obviously completely inappropriate to touch another player and it should be penalized in some way.

this. the player might get a very big reaction giving him information he doesnt deserve and never wouldve obtained in a normal pot/hand,

Clearly he is entering into space no other human should be aloud into. I would call the police on the spot and force the tournament director to put the tournament on hold until resolved.

LOL @ NVG'tards thinking that the pulse itself is the informational advantage.

you wouldnt need an accurate reading, youd just need to see if his pulse was racing - that wouldnt take 10secs. Next time you do cardio get your heart rate up high and then feel your pulse, youll feel that its racing in a few seconds.

If this happened to me I would probably just smile. If he then decided to call and I was bluffing, I would probably ask to have the pot sent to me. Usually I would say it's not fair to free roll someone like that, but his act kind of puts you in a bad spot, and it would catch me off guard. Anyone pulling a joke like this off, is likely going to muck anyways and just wants to have a laugh before he gives you the pot.

The ruling should be: Hand is forfeited and one round penalty at minimum. I'm fine with a DQ.

You'd have to be in a pretty relaxed setting to be able to feel anything at all. Why would you actually let the guy feel your pulse rather than pulling your arm away and telling him to **** off?

Question: for those that think this should be laughed off, does your opinion change if the player he grabbed was a woman?

I voted for one round penalty and lose the pot. I think losing the pot should be mandatory.

Forfeit hand for sure. He might get quite a bit of info from your reaction after the fact given that its such an unexpected action and it doesnt matter eitherway he tries to get info thats not within the rules of the game => hand is dead
