Congrats on the cash but it's your fault.

It's incumbent on the player to know what is needed when you cash. You said you can't fathom so you didn't check beforehand what you needed. It's your fault. I hope you were able to get your funds before you had to leave.

UPDATE (5/23 at 5:15 ET): WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart issued the following statement to PokerNews regarding the international player policy:

"There is serious misinformation being shared. International players are requested, not required to bring a second form of identification to validate their address. This will save time (in past players were asked to verbally provide said address — at times difficult and lengthy given various languages spoken) and avoid need for follow-up paperwork. Of note, the request to validate an address is no different for domestic players than international players — it is simply that most U.S. players have drivers licenses with an address while most passports and international licenses do not. A domestic player showing a passport will similarly be asked to confirm a physical address.

"This policy is a result of federal requirements for licensed casinos to use all reasonable efforts to obtain a permanent address of its customers, not an 11th hour shift by the WSOP. Rest assured we understand and embrace this is the 'World' Series of Poker and no player will be denied entry on basis of inability to provide this secondary form of ID inclusive of address. The WSOP just happens to be a large machine and players cooperation to bring something that includes an address (utility/credit card bill, bank statement, etc) can make the experience smoother and more efficient for all. We look forward to seeing EVERYONE who dreams of poker greatness at the WSOP this summer."

So, it doesn't sound like anyone can be rejected a payout without providing proof of address.

bolded the key part. i also had an issue with this in 2014 when rules were introduced. someone at the rio told me, when i brought up the press release you mention, "yeah, you can enter - we just won't pay you out."

Haven't been in Vegas for a while, but I would never have been able to produce proof of address. I would bring my passport and that's it - why would I bring a utility bill?

Why would you need anything more than a passport?

It has been this way for a while as noted. Get on the Internet and check your emails for any sort of bill invoice or bank statement

That's not the point. I agree. I would hope that a passport would be all a player would need but they should find out before they go. Especially if they are traveling thousands of miles.

Next time make a Czech list of things your need to bring.

There's this sweet little program called Adobe Acrobat that you can use to help update your address. Once opened, click edit text, you edit text, save and print.

This is very standard. It doesn't mean you have a Czech passport that you live there. You have to pay taxes in the country you live so you should prove you actually live there.

Last year I ordered something on an online webshop and they sent me a receipt by email with my address, name and order on it and that did the job.

Spent an hour trying to get paid $8k at Planet Hollywood with my UAE driving license. Dood behind the counter says "this isn't a drivers license". WTF is it then? Had to go back to hotel and get my (British) passport to get paid. FFS.

OP, what was the 2nd form of ID you had?

I would be interested to know if it was the Czech National ID Card. It would be funny if they accepted the Czech Electric Company's opinions on who lives where but not the Czech government.

I had no easy way to do that immediately (and still don't) so I was refused the payout and I am leaving Las Vegas tomorrow. I am guessing/hoping this is just incompetence on the part of the supervisor because I can't fathom that a passport isn't enough to qualify for getting paid out for a WSOP tournament. I am curious if anyone else out there has had any similar issues like this.
They told me the same thing last year. What I did was get the lady at the payout desk to use her computer and I signed into my Telus account (phone) and showed a digital statement on there and they accepted that as proof. Hopefully that is helpful for you gl!

I asked them a hypothetical situation, say you have a homeless guy off the street, plays an event, cashes for whatever amount. Technically by these rules they can't pay him out right, and they confirmed they would never pay that person out.
