What? You mean like they have done this year with Draft Kings, without adding to the prizepool.
Why would WSOP add some of that revenue to the prizepool when they can pocket it all themselves? There's nothing to stop them, unfortunately.

Why shouldn't they pocket it? You understand that the WSOP is a business, right???

Of course I understand that, but poker is the only game/sport I know of that gives zero proportion of sponsorship revenue to the players.

I understand and agree with your frustration, but why would they? WSOP numbers stay high every year, so why share the wealth if they don't have to?

Am I missing something or are the $3,000 events deeper than the 5k?

3k
15,000 50 starting BB = 300 BBs

5k
25,000 100 starting BB = 250 BBs

Hi, this is a serious question. Why do you call the tournament nonsense? It appeals to someone like me who has never cashed in a WSOP event. I would assume some research was done that justified it being included in the schedule. And I assume that many people will play just because people like me are interested. I might agree that it isn't bracelet worthy, but there are plenty of other bracelet events that fit that description.

Because if you do the math and half the field gets paid there won't be much left in the prizepool. Do you want to play for a day to get your money back - ràke. It's an unbeatable format ràkewise that is very time consuming. Some pros might play it because it will be an easier bracelet to win. I generally like the new type of tournaments the wsop tries but this one is horrible.

If you want to risk $1500 to win $300 then play a cash game.

The WSOP folks are clearly expecting the same mess with the Colossus as with the Monster Stack last year..

At least they are expecting it this time though..

Funny they put this out the same week as the 9th anniversary Sunday Million.

Just read the pokernews article. Seth Palansky thinks there will be over 24k runners in the Colossus. That will obliterate the guarantee. I think 16k seems more realistic.

If they don't get the word out and constantly beat the drum that players should pre-register - "The Colossus" could be renamed "The Catastrophe".

Obviously he meant live.

I'm staggered this needs to be pointed out to anyone, or that anyone would be so pedantic.

Scrub that, this place is full of 'em.

They had 8K players for the millionaire maker and monster stack. Colossus is 1/3 the price and reentry. They will sell out the 24K.

It is not possible to sell out the 24k, because many people will buy into all the flights and then if they advance and Im guessing 18% or so will advance then those other stacks that were already bought will be not resold, after two levels they will remove them from play but the seats don't get resold all that happens is tables reconsolidate and then they make room for the late waves. But I do think they can clear 20k, with a minimum of 16k in my opinion.
