saddest part of this thread is that heaps of people knew chino was borrowing money and not paying back (um, stealing?), but never outed him anywhere public. OP and others in his situation might not be in this spot if any one of the five or six high stakes players who fatalerror knows had posted on 2p2 about this years ago.

It would be funny if Chino hits a big score, and random people he never borrowed money from reverse scammed him into giving them small amounts like 1k or the 600 he borrowed to play craps. I'm sure he has done so many little 500-1k scams that he wouldn't think twice, esp if he has the ego and disregard for money I think he has. Then it would be like a little interest to the community as the money would trickle upwards into the poker food chain.

I was playing a $2500 tournament at The Bellagio a few years back which I was put in by my good friend Bryant King who, at the time at least, was also a degen gambler who borrowed from even his closest friends and paid back nada.

I never lent him a dime, so I have no axe to grind, but it is what is is, and it isn't anything else.

Chino and I get into a huge pot, with me way ahead, the board straights and he escapes. We barely know each other and he leans over to high-five me. I accept the five, smile at him then say to the table, "By the way, if you don;t know this guy, he's a degenerate gambler who borrows from everybody and pays nobody back."

The Grinder, was at our table and says, 'that's not true, that's not true at all."

So I guess he pays The Grinder back.

he didnt steal from the poker community dude--he stole from individual people within the community who could care less if it trickles back. This is nothing resembling justice.

And my god people...how could you possibly think it is ok to transfer TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS to a complete stranger? Would you have done the transfer with someone who you had not heard of or seen TV? I can't imagine you would.

I never met Chino Rheem, but judging by some things said in this thread, he sounds like a true sociopath to me.

Particularly interesting is that people say he is charming and that he tries to use pity as a basis to motivate people to give him money. According to the book on sociopaths ("The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha Stout), that is classic modus operandi for sociopaths.

If the guy is a sociopath, then I do feel sorry for the people he stole from because it means he preyed on them to take advantage of their good character -- which is something the sociopath hates and particularly tries to burn. It s*cks that sociopaths exist.

I knew this guy was upto no good. My Chino story is not that great but I was watching the ME when he final tabled and after waiting a long time for the November 9 I was very excited to watch it on my relatively new BIG SCREEN TV. To make a long story short Chino busted out of the tournament and so I went to grab a soda from the kitchen and I could watch the rest of the tournament. I get back..... TV is gone. Ture story.

im sure this happens a lot in the poker world. sorry you lost the 40k. unfortunately you learned the hard way not to lend people money. im assuming you learned because if you didnt it will happen again.

Never a borrower or lender be is the moral of this story. If you don't have the money in your hand to play you shouldn't be playing or next time carry more money. Simple.

I feel ashamed of him being an Azn...hurting our rep. He deserves to get punished hard big time. If it was in Asia, he wouldn't even be able to show up in any poker events, ppl with connections with mafia or the authorities would've had him taken care of already. I'm surprised that he's still walking around in the poker scene like nothing happened now.

I'd bet pretty big bucks on most of the so called "internet tough guys" itt being able to take Chino in a fight. In case you haven't seen Chino in person he's skinny enough that if you put him in baggy clothes and turn the AC on high he might just go flying around the room.
