but like I said, wait for better judgement (it specialist)
As in this case social engineering is far easier to do than hacking a target to gain access. As stated this is a very interesting case of this only for a non government agency persons employing these methods.

The I.P. address is used to find other information i.e what OS is running in order to find and known or unknown vulnerability for exploitation.

I have already posted ITT what anyone who has had contact with this person should do as a starting point.

Isn't it pretty hard to install a keylogger or trojan that an AV program won't catch? Or if it's already on there is it too late?

Dis infect the machine with a reinstall OS . Rootkits are very hard to detect even for experts.AV miss these often and altogether. This also depend on the method of install.

Fair enough. Disc encryption in advance is the only solution then I guess.

If he is able to see your IP (I don't think Skype shows it) and your computer runs a service which is accessible from to the outside world (i.e. badly configured sql server for HEM / PT) that has vulnerabilities - yes, otherwise no.

I doubt he is doing more than using other peoples software / services anyway though.

Still attackable but any software or hardware that makes its harder to gain access is a good security measure.Being security aware and careful is the best prevention.

Incorrect if there are vulnerabilities in skype that have not been patched it is attackable.

It seems unlikely that this guy has been running around with a Skype zero day for the past couple of months.

Basically just don't add the guy unless you are confident in hiding your ip - especially if you're just doing it for lols.

Couldn't care less mate, we all know what winning arguments on the internet equates to. I have I think 3 posts total in this thread.

I just thought it strange that you'd leap in feet first posting unsubstantiated nonsense where it really wasn't helpful.

As opposed to your witty and insightful posts? Go look at what I've posted and what you've posted and then have a think about who's been more useful in this thread.

Freaking asshats. FUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Lawl poor little victim. Do you wear a kick me sign like the group of pink poker players?

Idiots need to stop saying "don't post if you never been to Thailand or know Thailand law." It is pretty clear that those saying this are failing to live in Thailand and wholly ignorant on the law.

Also god job on thinking any solution has to be illegal or immoral.

If this one guy is able to terrorize a large group of adults and they all know him then he probably deserves a fan club.

I also love the "nobody is asking advice". Then what is the point of the thread? If you go to Thailand don't be afraid of this one guy like all of us are or wait do be afraid as that is all we do.

The point of OP was (i think): we give you a warning

and not: we have a problem, we don't know how to solve it and we are seeking help

(but obviously it is natural to discuss in a forum )

bingo. there are a lot of poker communities out there, and I doubt we're the only one that has let security lapse in favor of being open to others like us.

while this wasn't a thread asking for help, we've gotten some valuable information from people as a result of this thread, and we do appreciate it.

Not sure if you are trolling, or just a dullard. Either way, I don't care much, good luck to OP in preventing this guy from victimizing any more people. I won't be responding to any more meta thread bs, because it's distracting from the purpose of the thread.

Perhaps you should do the same. My posts are intended to be neither witty or insightful, i'm not sure how you could read them as such. I post a couple of assertions based on real world experience to counter some unfounded speculation, your entire contribution seems to be sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm, a post about disc encryption and speculation about the elusiveness of key loggers(wrong btw).

+1

It has been nearly a week and no strong evidence has come out. As far as im concerned (well im not concerned at all, but it nvg here), the culprit could be someone else putting the blame on cedrick.

Nobody directly concerned is talking anymore, and that looks bad. I knew about cedrick shady past. Some searches on internet and you can find facts. This op without followup makes me feel like somepeople else than cedrick is/are involved and are given way to much time to explain/lie to coverup. And if everything is true in op, then it was outed prematurely.

I dont have the exact words to express myself, but the longer it takes to have facts, the more everything is meaningless. Except phuket is crossed from my to go list as a result of this tread.

On the french forum they seem to have agreed that most of it was the doing of their beloved muck guy. He disappeared after his blame on the staze stopped working
