The hard rock event failing to reach the 10M guarantee reminds of the Partouche Incident when Partouche had to put +1M euros from their own pocket. And we all now what happened to Partouche ( their poker branch went broke).

This... also, they will change their scheduling next year and be more careful about looking at calendars for conflicts, which means guarantees will live on...

There's not going to be another 10M guaranteed SHRPO any time soon with 2 million in overlay, that's for sure

They failed on that this year

Do you work for them? How do you know this will happen?

Allen has a good point here and a lot of your are being annoyingly obtuse

Huh? The owner tried to not pay the guarantee and made a speech saying he was offended for getting called a liar and that he was cancelling the event because of it. Then their legal team realised they were screwed and put the money back in.

And now there is no more Partouche Poker Tour. Get it?

Yeah, I got it, I wouldn't have commented if he left it at "we all know what happened to Partouche" but going broke was not an accurate description when the owner was crazy and rage quit.

I doubt he rage quits if his latest tournament didn't make him go 700k into his pocket. His reaction was a bit different than we are used to (emotional rant on the microphone in front of customers) but the end result is going to be the same with venues like the SHRPO. We lost 2 million? Get rid of it

I was disputing the relevance of bringing up Partouche, I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with me about, obviously I also think it's very likely this (identical) event won't exist next year.

Really? I think its very relevant. It seems to me that the overlay is the only reason the owner quit. He had a rather emotional reaction but at the end of the day, I doubt it was the "besmirched" family name that led to the tour's cancellation. At the end of the day, I think the Partouche tour was cancelled due to a lack or perceived lack of profitability

At SHRPO through Day B they had 777 entrants and now it looks like close to 600 for Day C. So its looking like at least a 2.5 million dollar overlay. Again, what stops them from not making good on this? Am I just being overly pessimistic here? It is my understanding that in these tournaments a guarantee means nothing legally.

I heard from someone living down here that the Seminole Hard Rock had gone back on smaller guarantees in the past--something to do with allowing players to unregister after registering and calling that reason to remove the guarantee? Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

How can a self respecting gaming commission allow such shenanigans?

Oops I typo'd, I meant I wasn't disputing relevance of mentioning it. I was just pointing out the inaccurate statement about them going broke.

There is nothing to see here. It clearly states in the advertising that the 4 million is an estimated prize pool. Only a complete maroon would see it as 4 mil guaranteed.

Yes i know. I was there.

Following the end of the tournament they announced the cancellation of their poker tour. A Few months later they closed their online poker room and ceased every poker-related activity ( they shut down the last poker rooms that were still running in their casinos ).

Last year, the EPT Barcelona ME was held after the SHRPO which is just as likely a reason why they missed by $2.505m this year.

The Seminoles have a $1m GTD ME for Coconut Creek, Hollywood has a $2m GTD event in November and likely another huge guarantee likely for Lucky Hearts in February. Will be intriguing to see if those numbers change.

Wow. $2,500,000 overlay. Looks like they're going to honor it too.

And to think, just a few months ago I was here asking if the $250k overlay in the Sunday Warmup was the biggest overlay ever. Someone pointed out that the ISPT disaster takes the cake, with a 580k Euro overlay.

Way to raise the bar!
