As a point of comparison, PartyGaming (now known as bwin.party) co-founder Anurag Dik**** agreed to a plea deal with the DOJ in 2008 for a total of $300m. In 2009, payment processor Neteller settled for $136m.
That's some fine reading skills sir.

Amazing, PS buys FT sells to Steve Wynn for ****in profit duhhh, lmao.

Monopoly who gives a damn, the faster everyone gets paid, the faster the DOJ allows online poker in the US, finally we will be able to play our game.

What needs to happen...

An upvoting system, or "like" system where you can credit or discredit posts and then an option to sort by that thus allowing people to see all the relevant **** in just one page. 2p2 can stay exactly the same with the default option being chronological sort, but I would love the option to filter out the 1200 posts of bs and read the 12 from kevmath/noahsd...etc that actually matter.

Just realized this won't be read by anyone relevant because it's getting dropped into a sea of horse****.

This +1
I now regularly turn to twitter to avoid the crap on here. Appreciate there is no easy solution but 2+2 has deteriorated considerably in this regard.

Since they were going to have to settle for a lot of money anyway the marginal cost of buying out FTP makes a lot of sense.

So it's looking like a $420M settlement. That's a bargin, imo, assuming everything is settled. Party paid $300M(and $100m+ from Dik****?), and they never offered post UIGEA.
I agree. It's also a good deal for DOJ. Under Tapie deal, DOJ was set to make an estaimated $50-$100 milliion. Now they get $420 million, probably don't have to handle payouts, etc.

for example, if the government only one company a licence to run an online poker room... that would be bad because it could rip off the consumer.

but in the case of poker stars... where they gained their monopoly status by offering a better product/service than their competitors and built a good reputation... it's actually good that they have a near monopoly because that means that the bad companies have been weeded out and the consumer will not be ripped off by these other sites that are not run with the same integrity as pokerstars.
Google has good reputation as a whole too. But they just hand over all your emails to the government and keep track of everything you do. They punish anyone who tries to make money with a website or any advertising company that sells links online. You really don't know what your talking about and no monopoly is good.

When all the chips are out of FTP s hands, the gov will slap them with small fine like 25 million. The whole point of black friday was to shed full tilt poker from global casino monopoly.

What assets does FT have that Pokerstars would pay more than pennies on the dollar for?

I highly doubt Stars would pay for the privilege of paying back all the FT customers.
04-24-2012 , 02:05 PM
If DOJ insisted that ROW players got paid in full within 90 days, we have to assume that PS is going to follow up with the same rules, right?

Not quite. The company closest to being in the pockets of the DOJ or any department in this administration is MGM.
