I really wish he still did these. They were so fun(ny) to watch. Gus is the man.

I know right, gushansentv was awesome (and in a way awesomely stupid). He has become a lot better at omaha since then.

There's not enough gamble in it and the players like to moan about running bad. Also the lower variance of NLHE makes it harder for weak players to win.

Start playing PLO for a while, while doing that don't play anything else, and after some time run some NLHE. You'll see the difference.

From what I have read, it has to do with edge. 5 years ago no one had much experience with PLO, and it was played mostly around Europe. Then the edge was so small in NLHE that people moved to PLO where most people were still learning the game.

That being said PLO has brutal swings.

1. The edges were bigger (although by now most have caught up)
2. Way more action. I used to play strictly NLHE, then switched to PLO, now I get bored pretty fast if I play NLHE, especially heads up.
3. It´s easy for fish to come in and run good and win a lot in a short period of time. There are multiple examples of this (caddilac won a bunch then lost it all back, XWINK). But in the end it´s all about fundamentals in PLO. If you´re fundamentals are bad, you will always end up losing (Isildur1)

It used to be weird to see Gus sitting alone at a PLO table for more than 5 minutes. Now he can sit at three different tables and not get any action.

What´s even weirder imo is Phil Ivey playing 2/7 and getting his ass kicked every single time. Guess he is human after all, but I thought he would be winning in this game by now.

some more gavs101 domination at 200/400 cap PLO...Also I dont really get PLO: i see so many hands where people make increadible calls when people shove flop with nothing more than a draw and they have middle pair?? Like, how can you know your ahead? theres so many hands that beat mid pair there that people would also shove with..right?

what happened to gus is his downswing coming. it says on hsdb he is down 1.4 million on draw games. wasn't he just up like that much a month or two ago?

a pair w/ some backdoors can be a favourite against an overpair on the flop. so if you notice your opponent is basically only 3-betting or 4-betting or whatever with AAxx its not bad to get it in with a pair on the flop (you hopefully have 11 outs). also, if you are calling a pot-size bet you are getting 2:1 pot odds so you only need 33% equity to make a correct call.
