i wouldnt be surprised if long after the fact we hear the horror stories of the crap jack effel had to deal with and we'll laud him for running something halfway decent given the circumstances, but at the end of the day everyone loses.

sucks because for a brief moment we had that sweat of pokerstars buying the WSOP, how things would have been different!
Probably very true with Caesars classing the WSOP as one of its profitable assets and they want to maximize that profit as part of their bankruptcy agreement.

Not only should we be complaining about updates, we should be complaining about no live feeds for days 1-3 (the days that espn don't film) imo. This is supposed to be our world series or world cup. Can you imagine the football world cup not showing the group stages on tv or internet?

You have a choice not to watch. Poker fans do not.

Please don't.

Also what makes you think you will make any money from that book? Horrible title dealing with stuff that the average person doesn't care about. Can't imagine it selling well.

Haha yeah, funny how that works. Don't love what you've got...

I guess I'm somewhere in between: expected a dropoff in quality (which there was), hoped it would rebound later in the series (which it has to some degree), but still disappointed.

But here's something I was thinking about earlier tonight: consider how many more "notable" players there are to follow nowadays compared to, say, the days when Cardplayer had the official coverage. The BJ Nemeths and Andy Glazers of the world could probably narrow their focus on a hundred or so players and satisfy the overwhelming majority of the readers. Both the fan base and the number of well-known players was considerably smaller then.

Move ahead to now, a full decade later. Think how many more players are at least somewhat recognizable to a fan base that is overall more knowledgeable. There are probably more tables in the Day 1s of today's $1,500 events than there were "big-name" players in 2005*.

Add to the calculation the level of detail we demand now, plus the number of actions caused by deeper stacks and more players who know how to play them. In contrast, look at a fairly garden-variety hand update from 2007: http://www.pokernews.com/live-report...post.23553.htm

Anyway, covering the massive-field WSOP events to the fans' satisfaction is nearly an impossible task nowadays, and one that can only get tougher as each year passes.

Disappointed? Yeah. But I get it.

Spoiler:
*For grins, I did a quick Google search for poker players born in 1985. Here's the list of results, in order that I see them: Faraz Jaka, Phil Galfond, Scott Seiver, Ben Lamb, Robert Salaburu, Johnny Lodden, Phil Collins, Mark Newhouse, Kristy Arnett, Jason Koon, Justin Bonomo, Dario Minieri, Alex Millar, Daniel Schreiber, Peter Eastgate, Chris Moorman, Hevad Khan, Shannon Shorr, and Xuan Liu. I think Doc Sands is also an '85er.

Now do the same for 1986: David Baker, Tom Dwan, Jeff Williams, Jason Mercier, Sam Trickett, Benny Spindler, Andrew Robl, Shaun Deeb, Melanie Weisner, Sorel Mizzi, David Benefield, Richard Lyndaker, Ben Tollerene and Lauren Kling (again, just the order I'm seeing them during a two-minute scan).

Sure, some of these names would warrant more coverage than others. But already, that's a pretty good swath of players that Cardplayer never had to mention back when Joe Hachem made his run in 2005.

The title is a little rough although I suppose a publisher may intervene with a better one.

You never know, though. Film director Phil Alden Robinson hated the title the studio gave Field Of Dreams. He wanted to go by the original name, Shoeless Joe, after the book on which the film was based. When the studio refused to budge, Robinson called the book's author, W.P. Kinsella, in part to apologize that the studio didn't like his book's title. Kinsella – having no idea what the studio's suggestion was, mind you – revealed that he never liked Shoeless Joe. It was something the publisher had come up with. Kinsella's original title? The Dream Field.

As for the subject matter, the average person probably didn't care about Al Alvarez' The Biggest Game In Town or James McManus' Positively Fifth Street, especially at the times those books came out. Yet both sold well.

Regardless of subject, if you write a book well enough, it can find an audience.

Maybe I'm slow or bad at the internet, but is there a website that tracks players in the WSOP by name. What I mean is that instead of fishing through all of the chip counts on WSOP.com (which are sorted by Day) is there a way I can type in "Phil Hellmuth" and see that he ended Day 1C with a 70k chip stack?

I know my problem will be solved as the field is whittled down, but at this point with over 3k players remaining it's hard to keep track of the notable pros who remain.

So last night I saw an episode of the wsop 2014 main event. It was the money bubble episode and they made a big deal about Ronnie Bardah cashing 5 times in a row. I just checked his twitter and it looks like he is still in. Super short stacked but bagged last night.

Hopefully all goes well and he can continue the cashing streak.

That's how I'm doing it now, but there are multiple pages (7) and there are multiple days to look through. Just seeing if there was an easier way. Thanks!

If you click on the reports tab on wsop.com You get 3 separate pdfs of the end of day chip counts.

1 lists them by surname, the next by chip count and the 3rd by seat/table.

Go for the by name list, scroll down to H. Sorted.

He finished day 1c with 79725

Not sure if it's been talked about before but some guy managed to re enter the main event and run up a stack before being removed from play. Neil Channing talk about it at 8:35 on the video

Any chance we make the money before dinner break in day 3?

That is the estimated time, likely right after dinner break. They should bring in enough food for everyone and just combine hand for hand with the dinner break so they don't waste as much time.
