There is simply no even halfway-reasonable excuse for this fold if stack sizes and action are correct.

I was confused by the writing in article. It almost sounded like Brad Garret had the AJ but it said he bluffed so he must have J9. But he asks what Garret stack size is and he says "91K" which is a lie. Angle shoot by garret?

After the flop falls Gold says, "Well, I guess I am going home."

The turn and river eliminate both Gold and the player in the cutoff.

While Gold gathers his belongings, the other player eliminated in the hand with him starts freestyle rapping to Gold while the ESPN cameras are rolling. He starts to draw a crowd and, after two minutes, he finishes his rap and both players head to the rail, while Nguyen rakes in his newly acquired chips.

wow, what a fold! I couldve never folded that ever and I dont know if he was correct, but he must have had some live reads or something. Must have put opponent exactly on AA or JT. Wouldve loved to see results of opp.
From WSOP updates:

"Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier looked to be in fine form today. In one remarkable pot he open folded a set of kings to Kevin O'Donnell. Do you think he was right? O'Donnell, for obvious reasons, wouldn't say if it was a good fold at the time but he told WSOP.com much later, "Wasn't a good fold, it was a GREAT fold. I didn't think there was any way he would fold with the pot size..." Unfortunately for ElkY, his ride came to an end in the next level."

Wow he put him on JT. Probably would've been more action if O'Donnell had pocket aces. Crazy fold. He seems to confirm that it was a good fold though later on.

I think there is pretty much no way he puts him on only JT there and makes that fold. I feel as though Elky pegged him as a superrock and would only be raising preflop with the nuts, and then only playing that river the way he did with AA.

I just think based on your knowledge of your opponent (which we don't know what Elky was thinking) but you can so much more easily put someone on AA than JT.

I do agree, however, that if Elky thought he had AA before the river, the action was quite weird.

this would have been even more WTF (which is how I first read it, in haste, while multitasking. I was thinking WTH is "freestyle raping" and then realized my brain had kicked into idiot mode again)

I think the writeup on WSOP was wrong - I'm sure Garrett said 21,000ish, not 91,000ish. Garrett had the AJ, and Taylor folded the J9. Agree that the fold doesn't make sense.

Comprehensive Day 3 Report

If there is a featured ESPN TV Table for day 3 then look no further than Miranda Room Table 3. It has:

Jonathan Duhamel - 2010 Main Event Champion and 2015 Bracelet Winner
Billy Pappas - 2014 November Niner and Foosball World Champion
Scott Montgomery - Bracelet Winner and 2008 November Niner
Max Steinberg - Well Known Pro, Bracelet Winner and deep ME run in 2013

That's pretty stacked for a random draw. The secondary featured table will almost certainly be Amazon Table 361 with Phil Hellmuth (88,000 chips).

Other notable tables include:

Amazon Table 364 - Daniel Colman, Chris Bjorin, Steve Gross (3 bracelet winners)

Brasilia Table 38 - 21 year old Adrian Mateos (WSOPE ME Champ at 19) and Marc-Andre Ladouceur (deep run 2012 and Norman Chad favorite)

Brasilia Table 43 - Mike "The Mouth" Matusow (4 "top 30" ME finishes) and Anton Morgenstern (2013 ME blowup on day 7 losing 30 million chips)

Amazon Table 347 - Ryan Riess (2013 ME champ) and Brian Hastings (2 bracelets in 2015)

Other Known Pros still in the mix --

Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, JC Tran, Doc Sands, Jonathan Jaffe, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Allen Cunningham, Rob Salaburu, Antoine Saout, Martin Staszko, Dominik Panka, Joe Serock, Matt Marafioti, Vivek Rajkumar, etc.

Big Chipleader - Amar Anand (603,500 chips) +100K on 2nd place

Famous People - Brad Garrett (69,500 chips), Walter White (52,200 chips)

Oh man you got my hopes up I thought you meant Bryan Cranston. I thought he was trying to back his gambling prowess from Breaking Bad. I mean after all Jesse Pinkman played.

Who do we have for "famous woman" still in tourney ???

The results for the ladies this year is at a multi decade low.

Female participation and cashes have been terrible this year.

I thought Garrett was joking because he obviously had a really low stack.

That hand doesn't make sense, the guy had to call around 8k and there was 52k in the pot. How can you fold there?

And why would Garrett reraise that river? He obviously thought he had the best hand. I'm guessing the other guy saw that Garrett thought he had the best hand, so he put him on a full house. But still... you don't fold a straight against a "bad player" there. They often don't understand the strength of their hand.

Looking at starting stacks, I saw Jen Shahade at around 70k chips, also saw Melanie Weisner at about 30k chips.

pretty impressive to check after a bet and still see turn. hahah

The flop is 3c9hTc . Steve Gross checks from the big blind and Dan Colman bets 7,500 from the cutoff. Gross checks.

The turn is 2h.........

Scott Montgomery's luck hasn't run out yet? He should have been broke ages ago. I still watch that hand vs Paul Sneed occasionally.

Michael Shanahan Doubles Through Luther Tran

A series of preflop raises sees Michael Shanahan all in and Luther Tran calls.

Shanahan was one of the top stacks for a long time yesterday but slipped back towards the end while Tran starts today third in chips.

Tran turns over and Shanahan .

"Damn. I put you on eights." Tran says.

The board runs out and Shanahan gets an early double up.

Michael Shanahan - 340,000
Luther Tran - 331,000

Isn't 100BB all-in pre a bit weird with 99 and 1010? And how can you put someone on exactly 88 preflop? I guess you can't as shown in this case.
