On trans issues, I try to empathize with young trans kids who are navigating a hostile world that broadly speaking doesn't understand or accept them. I try to imagine what it would feel like if a person of authority in my life, or even just a classmate, suggested that my gender identity was a mental problem that I need to go get help fixing. Small wonder the suicide rates for young trans kids are so tragically high.

Parents should be arrested for allowing children, who haven't fully developed their brains yet, to take that damn medication.

In general, yes, if I had a child that very clearly "felt" (i.e., what their mind is strongly, permanently telling them) that they belong to another gender, then yeah, I would allow them to have the required surgery and procedures.

I have a friend with a sibling that was born with female parts who is a post-op trans man that now goes by a typically male name. He is one million times happier now. He can be who his brain was telling him he was since birth. This is a great thing! A wonder of modern science! To deprive people of this option is so very cruel. Just pure resentment; the thing that truly drives Republicans.
