Right, no one would have had a clue what kind of SCOTUS justices Josh Hawley would want to confirm if he didn't make that speech in mid-2020, and me making fun of the inevitable result definitely requires strong pushback.

You're certainly right that this isn't hard. I know dunking on the right-wingers is boring and you need to pick fights with the left to stay interested, but like, you can still choose your spots.

It’s not like the GOP base expects aggressively hardline positions from its congressional members all the time.

The correct take is the one about how RBG spent her life opening up doors so that berrett could freely stroll through them and shut them behind her.

Man it just suck to work hard your entire life and reach the highest honor in your profession, just to have half the internet hate you for political reasons.

Anyway pretty cool if confirmed she'll be the first justice to be the mother of school aged children.

If Dems are smart they will just let this one go. If it's still unsettled before the election it gives conservatives a reason to vote for Trump to save the unborn. If it's settled they can stay home and watch the Hallmark channel.

Also, Catholics on the fence can just focus on social justice issues knowing that the Supreme Court nomination is done. Polls show that Catholics are conflicted.

Yea man, rough break for her. You know who I feel really bad for though is Mark Zuckerberg. Dude worked his entire life to get to the top and the entire internet hates him. Just really unfair.

Must be nice to think that politics is just a game and that hating this nominee is the same as Ravens fans hating Steelers fans.

This woman is going to ruin the lives of vulnerable people in service of protecting the powerful and well connected.

Uh what? That’s a terrible analogy. Policing is literally a field with millions of people.

SC is still 9 iirc.

a black person became president so there is no discrimination against black people keeping them down...

if that analogy fits you better. they are literally all the same. it was a stupid ****ing take.

just because berrett is a woman doesn't mean she's good for women or a feminist, she's clearly neither.

Mrs. America

Recommended watching. Gets into issues of and within feminism in the US and touches on the reformation of the GOP in the second half of the 20th c.

No. You’re still wrong.

If Barrett is the swing vote she, a woman, wields historically significant power. That’s a massive boon to women.

Women do care about more issues than free birth control. Seeing a tremendously successful and qualified woman succeed at the highest levels of power in the world is extremely beneficial.

Also, I love how you mansplain *to a woman* whether she’s a feminist. Liberals can’t help but co-opt every grievance.

This is too facile. Do you believe that Clarence Thomas's elevation to the Supreme Court has been "extremely beneficial" to black people? That isn't at all obvious, especially to the overwhelming majority of black people who do not subscribe to Thomas's general world view.
