Maybe not, but if so, that should be clarified.

Of course in that case bigotry against people who are members of any group with a strong belief system shouldn't be allowed. No assuming that someone is a bad person or prone to any violent acts just because he is member of the KKK. You know, true believers in white supremacy only believe in peaceful means to keep other races down. They don't all believe in lynching young black men.

It is completely ridiculous that people professing a religious belief system are considered to be a protected class. Most religions are effectively hate groups. Certainly the big 3 western religions are, as seen by all the evil deeds advocated in the bible and the koran.

Is it considered transphobic to say something positive about people transitioning in the other direction?

If I am walking alone through a dark alley at night, I would sure prefer to see a group of trans men walking towards me than to see a group of cis men.
I'm pretty sure that trans men are far less likely to attack and/or rob me. Go team trans! Transphilia for the win.

Touche! But I didn't say you were mistaken, just being counterproductive. I probably should have used a different comparison, but this white supremacy thing has been etched into my brain from the earlier discussion.

We can try using billionaires instead of white supremacists. I don't think generalized insults toward billionaires would be moderated the same as generalized insults towards members of a religion or ethnicity.

Or even we could use "CEOs of fossil fuel companies"

Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia are ok then?

Billionaires aren't an ethnicity.

I don't know the exact rules because insulting people isn't my aim. Ask crossnerd, she's the mod.

Which groups do you have a burning desire to insult and why?

Texans are mostly christians and share many customs, that doesn't mean Texan is an ethnicity.

The normal use of the word requires common ancestors for several centuries at the very least, more commonly millennia.

Some parts of some countries are certainly ethnicities. I (and I suspect you also) don't have enough knowledge of Texans to get involved in this silliness.

Hopefully you don't all get to the point where the mods decide it's not OK to dunk on imaginary sky friends any more.

Also 1 in 4 Texans aren't Christian.

They're ok with me, if they are based on religious beliefs. But anti-semitism is usually defined by hatred of ethnic Hebrews, regardless of whether or not they practice Judaism.
There is a reason it's not called "anti-Judaism". I am certainly anti-Islam, anti-Judaism, and anti-Christian. Islamophobia is a silly term, but I do not believe that have a phobia (irrational fear) of Islam. I have a rational fear of those who practice the same religion as those who, in the name of that religion, crashed a plane into a large building a mile from my house. I am not anti-Hebrew or anti-Arab.

While not wishing to demean this bad experience I don't think that's at all a rational fear.

Irish republicans blew up a building a mile from where I was living and my bedroom shook with the blast, but being scared of Irish republicans would be ridiculous.

I would consider Palestinian to be an ethnicity, but it has absolutely nothing to do with their being Muslims or their customs.

No it doesn't and you can't define "normal" as something you've bent out of shape to suit your purposes.

It's probably rational to be cautious about interactions with most people, more so if they're religious or in a cult because they probably have irrational beliefs. I'm not scared of every Christian or Muslim, but more cautious because they are likely by definition irrational. In the US, there orders of magnitude more dangerous Christians than any other religion, so I'm far more worried about them than any Muslim.

Was that back in the 70s or 80s? I'd say it would be reasonable to have a fear of that group and want to keep them away from explosives. The IRA did a disproportionate amount of terrorism in the UK during that time period.

While they haven't hit me as close to home, I also have (what I consider to be) a rational fear of American white Christian nationalists who stockpile weapons and practice warfare in the woods.

Neither of these fears rule my life, but I do want to try to prevent them by (almost) any means necessary.

Early 90s.

Baltic Exchange bomb

Plenty of Irish republicans in London, ~none of them terrorists. It would have been highly irrational to fear Irish republicans. The parallel with Muslims is very clear.
