We have universities in my country who also suddenly think they have to engage certain debates to shine a light on issues, by inviting professional pundits who make a living out of saying controversial things. I have never bought that argument. The world is filled with brilliant people doing brilliant things. Focus on them instead of idiots like Milo or Shapiro who are just wasting everyone's time.
Lumping Milo and Shapiro together is utterly silly, in my opinion.
Also, it's usually specific student organizations that request speakers, not "the university".
I'm fine with closing down all public universities, then it's a non-issue and the universities can invite or disinvite or not invite at all anybody they want.
