This is a red flag. It this seems to be a popular scam in home games since it makes it difficult to track the prize pool. I'd definitely check the FT chip counts and see if the totals checkout.

If the AO adds more chips then the RB, it may not help since they could just pad the AO numbers and remove the equivalent # of Rebuys, i.e. AO: 1500, RB 1000 remove 3 RBs and add 2 AOs then pocket the extra cash.
You could check the number of players at the end of the re-buy and if they show real time chipcounts for leader board to see the number of AOs isn't too high.
