Yea it's not the point, but really why would you leave 5k on an account for so long without even checking up on it?

Sounds like he can afford to lose 3k.

I don't understand how someone could be dumb enough to think that was important at all.

but people keep bringing this up and it is distracting the issue. Lets suppose he is really Bill gates - what difference does it make? please people stop bringing up the fact that he had $5K on there for a year. So what?

I'm curious. So what? If you don't want to answer my question you could just ignore it and save your obviously precious time instead of making a big deal out of it.

SmokeyRidesAgain

He's already told us that his first daughter was born during the year the money was sitting in his account. He figured it was safe at Pacific Poker and left it to tend to more important matters.

I wish people would start reading the thread before asking this irrelevent question.

Email sent btw.

Gl to OP.

Holy thread derailing! Do we need to start a new thread about whether people should leave $5,000 in their accounts, whether that's appropriate to ask in a thread like this, and whether it's being a dick to question said appropriateness?

I don't think it is only Pacific poker. I have also had money taken from an account with poker.com. I had about 20 bucks left in an account and disappeared. I looked into it 12 months later and the account had been closed and funds taken. I emailed and they said a similar thing: sorry money gone. Because it was only $20 I didn't really care too much.. other than to never play with them again.

Surely a better system of bankroll management would be in some online bank account like Netteller. I don't currently use anything like this but would be interested in anyones advice.

Well I think it's all relative. Obviously for $20 just keep it online and check what the site's T&C's are - if need be log on every so often. However, if you have $000's bankroll and I wasn't going to play for a considerable time I would prefer getting my money back in my bank account.

The problem with T&C's is that most people don't read all the small print and when a site slips in a totally unacceptable term it gets hidden away until some poor player gets ripped off as in the case of the OP.

At the very least, an email should be sent off to a player that is about to incur any penalty charge - that would be the fair and correct thing to do. Even then players should only be charged a nominal monthly fee of say $5. This is just scandalous.

Some of my friends had big trouble getting their money off 888 casino two years back. 888 has actually never been a reputable company.
I played at almost any poker site so far, but stayed away from Pacific.

I doubt an email campaign will change anything. Pacific poiker seems oblivious to what is happening in the poker world and does pretty much nothing to attract or keep poker players. They seem to view it as this strange growth in the side of the casino, that doesn't do much good but not much bad either.

Pacific Poker is buyer beware. Shame for OP but IO think his money is long gone. I doubt Pacific can be shamed/blackmailed/nudged into paying back.

Maybe not, but if enough people hear about this and quit playing there or never sign up there, it will cost them much more than the $3K they took from this guy in the long run.

I used to play on Pacific a couple of years back and I was considering redepositing. Now, no ****ing way. The thing that amazes me is that this type of policy is so pathetically short sighted that it is a SURE net loser for them. Penny wise, pound foolish.

Wow thread has really exploded! From all my lurking here I knew the forums were great, but I had no idea I'd get this kind of response. To everyone sending emails to Pacific: A big thank you! If you receive an interesting reply, please let the rest of us know.

Still no official word from 888/Pacific, but I received a PM from a forum user associated with 888 indicating that I may get contacted tomorrow or tuesday. However, I'm not getting my hopes up until I'm officially contacted, so keep sending those emails to Pacific!

I became aware of a fellow poker player's plight after reading his story on the 2+2 forum. It seems that after leaving $5,603 in his Pacific Poker account for around a year, he had a child and didnt play on Pacific for quite some time. When he returned he had less than half of his funds remaining($2241). The rest of the information including emails between he and support at Pacific Poker are included in his thread on the 2+2 forum which can be found here, http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=259629. Basically Pacific Poker confiscated over $3300 dollars from his account because it was dormant for a year. I can assure you and those at your organization that it would be in the best interests of ecogra and Pacific Poker that this practice be stopped. We have all seen what those on 2+2 accomplished when those at Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker were stealing from their customers. They at least had the decency to hide their theft. Pacific Poker is doing it openly and they are an approved portal on your site. I hope that your company actually performs the functions listed on your site and takes appropriate action despite this outright theft being backed up by ridiculous terms and conditions on Pacific Poker. No one wants to be compared to the KGC.

I hope it helps.
Pilkain, this is great, hopefully eCOGRA has some actual weight they can throw around here. Please keep us updated on this one.

Again, thanks everyone, I'm sure 888/Pacific is feeling the impact already. I'll keep you all posted.

You know something? Even if OP gets his money back, I'm not satisfied. The fact that it would take this much bitching and moaning to get them to correct a policy that is so obviously outrageous leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
