Since playing micro ring games are basically useless in this race, they should be eliminated from it completely. Honestly, I played 90% more time in ring games than in the satellites, but my final points were ring games: 57 points, satellites: 1450 points.
Instead of just awarding people all the same points for entering a satellite, it should be based on how well you do in them collectively. For the entire first week, I entered and actually played in them and in the early stages. I would often be at a table of 9 with 6 or 7 inactive players. Making players actually play would almost certainly prevent this.
The 12 round late registration is another problem for the games imo. Basically the games went like this. 20 players or so start, with 60-75% of them being inactive. Slowy the inactive players get blinded out, with players joining here and there throughout. Level 12 would arrive with somewhere between 10-20 players left. About 2 minutes before the round ended, another 20-30 players would join at the last minute for the sole purpose of getting the 10k add on hoping to get lucky and avoid playing the first 70 minutes of the tournament.
On average, when level 12 ended the chipleader would have somewhere around 12k-20k chips. Once everyone added on, they would join the tournament and have nearly half the chips of the chipleader (even after his add-on) without ever playing a hand. I have to admit, once I saw this strategy I started doing it too. The first week I joined new games at :05 after the hour at level 1, but second week I would just wait until :10 after the hour and join last hours game with 1 minute remaining in level 12.
One game I did this and was chipleader in 3 hands. I'm sorry, but there should be no tournament ever where you can join in level 12 and be the chipleader after 3 hands. That's just stupid. Please consider lowering the levels at when the late registration close. I played a OSS yesterday where the late reg ended after level 4 and it was a much better tournament experience than these .50 satellites.
Agreed.
There's so many simple solutions to a lot of the problems this site, and network are having. My biggest issue is the lack of support we are receiving in this forum. I mean, are our suggestions and problems even getting heard? It would be comforting from time to time to hear a rep say that they're passing our concerns up the chain of command.
This network could easily dominate the US poker market by making a few simple fixes. It almost makes you wonder if they want that...
