HEM needs to fix their software to work with Merge, not the other way around. I use PT4, and those guys said they would have a fix by today. I'd imagine HEM will too.

this has been a huge complaint and i'm sure its going to get fixed.. Have patience..

as a developer/engineer/project manager myself and knowing what we came from to where we are, I say that the new software is a HUGE step up.. even though its lacking functionality that it needs and has some bugs.. If they get these resolved and fixed in a timely manner(they should be hammering out these problems one at a time and releasing them as they are fixed, not once ALL changes are completed. One feature complete, One feature released.) It's much easier to test functionality of a new feature if its the only new one.. when you release a bunch of stuff all at once, so many unknowns can go wrong and you end up in a situation like were in today.. complete down time.

I'm a project manager for a major development/engineering company in the defense and aerospace industry. I deal with this everyday, and know that this can be turned around quickly if they have someone leading the charge that knows what is going on.

Overall i'm really happy with the look and feel of the new client. The lags need fixed, the number of clicks to register for a SNG needs to be reduced.. I need to be able to register to a SNG without having to right click or wheel down any information..

The ability to keep a specific number of games going at a specific level would be great. I'd love to be able to stay reg'd for X # of games until I say stop.

the lag needs fixed ASAP.. #1 priority above all else

need to be able to see who's sitting at a table by clicking on it in the main window lobby. Have the tournament advertisements change to a player seated window with info about that table.. Then you can keep it and give the players what they want.

fix the double button problem thats been a problem for years.

fix the sitout at next blind on all tables to sit out @ bb not sb.

those would be good places to start.

so you release faulty airplanes that have large defects everyday without any prior testing??

this is not a beta build. Something like this is ok for a beta, something that they could have asked 5 of their mid-high stakes players to test out a few days before release (and that's a pretty short beta) so they could then come out with a proper release, not have to pull it down a few hours after the update (that took like 3x longer than they estimated) and need almost a day to be able to get back up running.

did i say I build airplanes? I release software that yes has bugs in it when released.. it's the nature of the beast.

Blizzard has millions and still releases software that has bugs in it, along with every other game company... they beta test the **** out of it, why don't they find all the bugs? Because it is impossible. You need LOTS and LOTS of people hammering every part of it to find cracks.. you can only do so much load testing.

What would have been better and the way I handled it was to have simultaneous releases.. keep the old software running, but release the beta for 6.0.. let the communicty beta test it, and give feedback.. leave it in beta till it is ready... then discontinue the old version. but i'm not the PM for Merge.. although i'd be interested.

BCP Rep,

I just got on the software for the first time and try to make a player to player transfer and it tells me I have reached my monthly limit? I have not done any transfers yet this month, is this just a glitch that will be fixed today or do I have to email support to make a transfer?

its a bug, its being worked on and has been stated as such many times in many threads.

Agreed, but not really a deal breaker for me. This seems like something that can be fixed in an upgrade though.

This is fairly normal for any massive software upgrade and as part of a company that backs a lot of players on Black Chip we knew this was going to be a "fun" week, so we have told our players as we see them that yesterday and today and likely tomorrow were good days to go out and enjoy the summer weather.

A lot of the issues like the lobby showing those silly upcoming tournaments instead of players at a table are cosmetic and I assume will be tweaked, and the more serious ones (lots of transfer bugs - weird "limits" and transfers not showing who they are from) will we assume be handled in the next couple of days as well, since they have to for it to be a functional network.

The lag at the tables ( I just experimented with a DoN and the last hand where my AK beat a 10 10 took a couple minutes to deal out) are obviously a top priority because the games are not playable in that situation.

BCP is always great at keeping people as informed as possible, but a lot of this is Merge network based (and they tend to be a bit more shy with regard to making statements), so as annoying as it is patience is needed.

The positives are definitely that the software looks a lot better and the filtering systems and other menu options are a lot better than they were, so once can definitely see a much better foundation for the software once they work out these issues.

Would be good (and I'm not singling Merge out here, larger companies also get this wrong) if some simple standards were adhered to.

1) Have a group of users+ operational staff test it for functionality etc in a staging environment (UAT)
2) Have some release notes explaining what the principle changes are (maybe they exist, if so communicate their existence better)
3) Have a nice clean backout plan ready. I.O.W if the release goes wrong (and judging by the amount of extra "unplanned" planned downtime this release went wrong) have pre-determined abort mission steps and keep to them.
4) Never cut new code, fix-on-the-come or do anything not originally included in the release plan as that is untested - back the thing out instead so you are at a known version and in control.

No idea who tested this, or who signed it off for release, but it is exceptionally poor.

They had been working for 36+ hours to get the software stable and obviously needed to get some rest before attacking these things.

Merge frozen- MOney taken from my account and can't unregister


I am registered in 2 $180 +3.10 HU SNG and 1 $150+2.75 HU SNG and i can't unregister. They are frozen. TOurney numbers #56557873 and #56556814 and #56557337. AM i going to get a refund for these? This software lags me really bad. Oh yeah forgot to mention that my alias on BCP is "AA1ishAA".



EDIT: Was able to unregister the 180s but the 150 #56557337 is still running.

I'm in a headsup sitngo #56555737. Table is not loading. I looked at another sitngo it has been running for 1 hour 17 mins blinds are at 750/1500.

how can they not have an auto post blind button on every table?
Having to click an extra button to see who is at a table is dumb.
The sound it plays when it's your turn is annoying.

I registered but un registered for the $11 2k gtd. It didnt unregister me started and i cant even play. after 15 mins table does load but no1 can play and no hands are being dealt

I cant play either.

When I click a table I want to join, it opens a window that says "loading..." I can't do anything, i'm basically forced to quit the client and re-open it.
