Asking people to retweet second-hand information with no corroborating evidence encouraging withdrawals from a long-time well-established niche UK site is bad form to me, regardless of what he heard.

Maybe they are getting rid of his favourite "70's disco pimp in shades" avatar.

Going by the lack of tournament success in recent years, that's little surprise.

I respectfully disagree. It seems it would serve the industry and more importantly the players much better if people spoke up when they heard something. Of course it can not just be a wild rumor but if someone hears something credible they should let that info be known. I wish he gave a little more info but I would really like the site to respond. That seems the logical move if there is no truth to what devilfish is implying.

If you're running the company, how would you address a vague remark like "have heard bad news"?

I agree. But he hasn't done that. No information has been let known.

I posted a thread on the Sky Poker Community forum enquiring about Ulliott's tweet earlier today. I mentioned that I was not concerned but welcomed any comments or reassurance from the site. My thread was promptly deleted and I received a brief private message from the mods asking me not to repost it as it would cause 'unnecessary speculation'.

Whilst I can agree with this I don't think Sky are doing themselves any favours by seemingly ignoring the issue.

Is [the] Sky really falling or is Ulliott a modern day Chicken Little?

I can tell you exactly how I would respond if I had nothing to hide. I would tweet at devilfish day and night stating we are a rock solid company asking him to be more specific about his baseless allegations.

I have a question for you, if you were someone that deposited today or in the near future and found out later they company was already in trouble how would you feel? The are ROW players they have tons of online poker options, if a site is even possibly having trouble they should deposit elsewhere.

I think it has a healthy player pool. I would be very surprised if they were struggling, theh seem to have a real nice hold on the UK market. I think fish like the community feel there, it has forums and a TV channel dedicated to it.

Having said that, I recently stopped playing HU there because I noticed a real lack of action but I assumed that was down to the changes they made to the lobby.

Hood,

He may be protecting a friend who spoke to him in confidence. The next action should have already been skypoker pushing devilfish to be more specific. That they are not doing it speaks volumes.

Andypandyy comment is also quite unnerving. If I was ROW I would give sky a few more days to get this addressed or cash out.

Sky Poker may be small, but they are owned by Sky TV. Nobody has anything to worry about in terms of their player funds.

Dave,

I just looked at devilfish twitter, he wrote that tweet only 16 hours ago. I assume sky poker will respond in next day or so. They certainly should, even if they are rock solid not responding and deleting inquiries in the forum would have to hurt them.

Not really. If the Devilfish A) had ANY information or B) was in any way a credible source, then they should.

But he hasn't provided any information, and although he is famous, he is not respected at all in any way as an industry insider. My guess is he tried it one with one of the Sky Poker hostesses and got knocked back and wrote that while he was pissed.

LOL

That chain of events would be about the funniest thing I ever heard. I would still like a response if I was a customer. Even to put him in his place.

You are implying that someone depositing on Sky Poker has put their funds at risk which is absurd given the size of the parent company.

They are also regulated by the Alderney Gaming Commission - oh wait forget that bit.

I wasnt implying anything. Devilfish, a poker player with his own online poker room and almost six million in tourney cashes was implying the site was not solid. SS asked me what I would do if I was in skypokers situation and I was facing vague accusations on twitter from a known pro. I said I would tweet back at devilfish day and night until he provided some proof to back up that tweet implying we were not solid, or apologized for the tweet.

I then asked SS how he would feel if a site went under with money he deposited AFTER industry insiders started hearing about problems but they never spoke up. There are two sides to the "should I speak up or should I keep quiet" argument when it comes to rumors. But the site or person being harmed by the rumors should aggressively defend themselves. Like I said before I expect sky poker to address it, not delete threads in the sky poker forums asking about it.

I have no way of knowing the financial situation sky poker is in. I would assume it is solid because of its corporate umbrella. I would also expect a media empire to address something like this not let speculation run rampant and get some momentum.

I'm suddenly reminded of this..

Quote:
Did Glenn Beck Rape And Murder A Young Girl In 1990 is an Internet hoax and grassroots smear campaign which began as the satirical website GlennBeckRapedAndMurderedAYoungGirlIn1990.com in September of 2009. The hoax began as a parody of public perception of Glenn Beck’s over-the-top interview antics on his self-titled television show Glenn Beck, wherein he frequently asks his guests to disprove highly speculative and often outrageous assertions.

Sports betting, virtual racing, Bingo, casino games and poker are carried out by Bonne Terre Limited (Incorporated in Alderney, Registration No. 1110) which is licensed by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC).

Naturally Bonne Terre Ltd is owned by BskyB but they are not directly linked to SkyTV ie. PlayerFunds if missing from NBT Ltd wont be covered by your SkyTV subscription money. Otherwise there would be no need to have a separate company to run Sky Poker even if they took over / merged with the company
