Been a couple days now ....but I guess I'll move it to Internet Poker.

It does seem like a small amount of money, but the site seems in the wrong and if you can help the guy .....

EDIT:

Damn, I probably should have edited the thread title before I moved it.

WOW, the chat is extremely tilting for me.

Finally an OP who remained calm and polite and was just trying to get some answers and the support agent was rude, and then abruptly ended the chat.

Please keep us updated on what happens OP.

I do not think it is true. I do not know of any set of rules which has a rule described like above.

Perhaps if such a rule existed in the "official poker rules" it might be possible to obtain a copy of such rules?

Sounds like a rule they have made up on the spot.

The generally accepted rule is that if the chip stacks are identical and both players are eliminated on the same hand then the prize is split equally.
SkyPoker is surely in the wrong here, if this rule is not explicitly listed on their site I do not see how they can justify something which is contrary to normally accepted procedure.

On a related note, things might get interesting if the tournament was a satellite with a certain number of seats to a bigger event (lets say the WSOP). In this case I suppose the site would have to split the cash value of the seat equally, even if the event was intended to be seat only with no cash alternative. Wonder if this has ever happened (obviously not at Sky!)

Ok guys, step one is to see what their online support say, here is a copy of the email I sent them:
Hello,

I am just emailing you following up a decision on a poker tournament which I have never heard of before. For reference it was hand number 407464446.

Here was the situation. After a long rebuy session in the 1 minute Roulette game, Blinds are very high(around 80k/160k if I remeber correctly). Because of the tournament structure we have 1 massive chip leader and 3 of us are constatnly rebuying and forced all in(Total of 4 people left, with top 3 getting paid).

I am big blind with 3k chips(all in before the flop because of the blinds ) and so is small blind next to me(Exactly 3k chips aswell). We both have Exactly the same chip stack.

In this hand first player utg beats both me and small blind with KK. Top 3 get paid. Me and both small blind both lose(my hand was above his) BUT he got paid around 13 pounds whilst I got nothing.

I contacted sky poker online and got this response:

ystem22:14:38 We apologise once again for the delay.
System22:15:18 Thank you for your patience, we will deal with your query as soon as possible.
System22:15:58 We're very sorry that we've kept you waiting for so long. If you continue to hold, we'll be with you as soon as we can.
System22:16:38 Thanks for your patience, we'll deal with your query shortly.
System22:17:18 Sky Emile J has joined this session!
System22:17:18 Connected with Sky Emile J
System22:17:18 Hi, you're chatting to Sky Emile J, I'll be assisting you today
Customer22:17:23 hello
Agent22:18:37 Hello what do you want to dispute about this hand and can I have your user Id please?
Customer22:18:41 I was just playing a game where the top 3 places got paid, I was even chipped with someone next to me and we were both all in (blinds were large) we both lost the hand to someone else but even though we were chipped exactly the same and I even beat his hand, I got 4th place unpaid and he got 3rd place paid (I think 12 pounds)
Customer22:18:58 -------(user id)
Customer22:19:44 I also have the hand number aswell 407464446
Agent22:21:33 I am not asking for you poker alias. I am asking you for you user ID please?
Customer22:21:50 (user id) sorry
Agent22:24:13 What was the name of the tournament please?
Customer22:25:47 1 Minute Roulette
Customer22:26:26 Tournament ID: 501079
Agent22:28:08 Can you remember the poker alias of the player in question. The player that came third.
Customer22:28:54 yes it was victor0928
Agent22:33:58 Okay deciding on who gets third and fourth is not decided on who has the highest card or not. It is decided on who is sitting next to the dealer button. So you were big blind and he was small blind that is why he got third place, he was sitting next to the player that had the dealer button.
Customer22:34:25 where is this stated?
Agent22:34:38 That is poker rule.
Customer22:36:00 Does sky poker use different rules to other poker sites then?, I thought the logical thing would be to split the money
Customer22:36:10 My hand even beat his hand
Agent22:36:43 Ad mentioned above this is how it works, that is the poker rule.,
Agent22:37:26 It is not decided on your hand like I mentioned it is determined on who is sitting closest to the dealer button.
Customer22:38:36 Is there somewhere in the skypokersite this is stated, I have never heard of played that rule in poker before
Customer22:39:01 and it was not described at all so It really makes it feel infair on me
Customer22:39:04 *unfair
Agent22:39:51 Doesn't matter where it is stated it's the rule of poker
System22:41:50 The session has ended!

After contacting some people on the Internet and also checking myself. This is not a common rule of Poker and I can't find it stated on your website everywhere.

I haven't seen this rule on any other site either for example Pokerstars doesn't use this "closest to the button rule"

http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/tournaments/rules/
If two or more players are eliminated on the same hand, a player with more chips at the start of the hand finishes higher than a player with fewer chips. If all players started the hand with an identical number of chips, all players tie for that rank, and any prizes due to those players will be equally distributed between them. During hand-for-hand play (as described in rule #13), two or more players eliminated during a single 'synchronized' hand are treated as having been eliminated simultaneously, even if they are at different tables.

And also other well respected poker sites rules have this exact same rule Pokerstars uses.

http://www.homepokertourney.com/robe...-of-poker.htm( commonely used reference for poker rules) states the same thing aswell.

I just wanted a proper explanation about this as not only was I a disapointed with the hand but also the way in which skypoker online talked to me and abrubtly ended the conversation stating its a basic poker rule when obviously its not. Thanks for your time and I apreciate any help you could give me in resolving this matter.

P.s I just realised I sent them the copied paste from this forum with the user I.D blocked out lol, meh I gave them my user id on the form anyway.

Ridiculous decision. I've posted a link to this thread on another forum which Tikay from Sky Poker frequents. Hopefully he'll post here and get this resolved. GL OP.

edit: vvvv Result, nice one.

Waiting to hear that the glitch in the software has been fixed also.

I just wanted to update guys.
Customer service replied to my email and apologised and paid me the correct amount.

A few days later I also got another reply asnd they gave me a 13 pound bonus as an apology aswell as the 3rd place payment so everything worked out well. It wasnt handled well the firs time but Im really happy with the way they sorted it out afterwards and I have seen they also changed that tournament structure so we arent endlessly re buying aswell

Played a few tournaments on here in the last couple of days and its literally like printing money, worst players I've ever seen anywhere. If I was an outsider watching I would have thought people were chip dumping me.

Any chance of full ring tournaments? sick of it being 6max all the time.
Also the table graphics really need improving, it's often hard to differentiate between the 5 & 6 especially when multitabling.

Sky poker wont stop spamming me.

They send me an email every day about a 10 quid bonus.
They send me a text message every second day about the same bonus.
Ive tried to opt out of this 4 times, by texting stop to a number they provide. But they just keep spamming me.
I dont know if Im paying for the texts they send me, possibly.

Im all for receiving emails from poker sites with info on new promotions, but Sky poker just keep spamming me the same info. I actually enjoyed playing on the site, but will never play there again.

What do you guys think about this kind of spamming.
Is there a sky poker representative that would explain why a company like sky poker are spamming customers.

Yeah, but do we really want them to think they can just harass us into depositing on their site. Personally, his kind of spamming just ensure I will never play there again.

He monitors the internets for dissent and the words "Sky Poker" - he will be along shortly to spread peace and harmony.

Hi been looking for a poker forum for a while now and this seems to cover everything.....From Oxford UK
just wondered if it was just me that thought this bit of dodginess was me just being paranoid??????

Here we go..... i was playing a satellite on Sky poker last night and got on a table with a chrissy86 and a chrissy909 both players coming from a place called Morpeth UK population 14000,i instantly started questioning wether they were in fact the same person,i actually emailed sky stating my fears, they came back that they were not the same people....i put up a thread on the sky community forum like this, posting some screen takes from the game, the thread was immediately deleted because they said i had named players that was against their rules........on other threads players are named when certain hands are being discussed accompanied by screen takes.

here are a few links to the final table...........

Dont think you have much to worry about, although I will say that Sky poker is a small tight nit community, and its common for husbands wifes boyfriends girlfriends etc playing at the same time, and this will obv lead to them being on the same table at times.

Happens all the time at other sites Stars for example but the sample size is so huge you dont notice it.

BTW I used to play there about 4 years ago and the software tilted me then. Its still the same and it tilts me more

Either you are being a bit paranoid or the puppet master for the two Chrissy players is exceptionally stupid.
