You mean aside from the fact that it's going to be next to the 2 Baltimore stadiums, the convention center, and the inner harbor?

Drunk business travelers, tourists, and sports fans all in close proximity?

Yeah, no idea how they're going to draw a crowd...

I thought they standardized poker comps across the country last year or two years ago to, for example (and not even sure if I have the number right), 17 tier credits per hour at 1/2 NLHE regardless of where in the US you're playing.

I'm curious to see how much parking is going to cost/if anything on non game days.

The city likes it's parking monies alot.

I've spoken to a number of Maryland poker players and there is a lot of concern about the security in the parking garage they are building. Many of us who still go to AC pay a $5 fee to park in the casino garages and it's a nuisance fee and not enough to keep me from playing. What's most important, whatever Horseshoe charges to park, the patrons will need to feel safe walking from the casino to their cars.

Live! is a nice casino, granted, but their parking lot isn't always the safest haven either.

I've driven past the construction site several times. The parking garage for Horseshoe is huge and, given that it's a major chain, I've no doubt it will have just as much surveillance as at Live.

I do hope they don't charge ridiculous prices for parking on normal days though.

I know that this was being talked about, but I haven't seen it in action. New Orleans (near as I can recall, maybe I'm misremembering?) doesn't pay this out, nor do some of the middle of the country ones.

AC probably does - but then it also runs (almost entirely, now) a "super 1/2" game that pays more.

I was thinking in comp terms though - which are certainly not standardized company wide.

I have no information to address the security concerns with, but maybe parking charges will be waived for those who either earn enough tier credits per day and/or play a certain number of hours? That's how it is done in AC.

In New Orleans, those with high level cards (diamond and 7-Star, if I recall correctly) get free parking. As do those who play a certain amount.

And there was a whole lot of consternation about the crime-infested Arundel Mills before MDL opened as well.

Looks like all of three incidents since September. That's not a lot by any stretch of the imagination. One was a guy sleeping in his car. So two incidents that did not involve known stupidity.

Does anywhere other than AC charge for parking? I don't really understand the assumption that Shoe will charge for parking. I can see it on game days (O's and Ravens), but other than that....

Sure, not a lot - but just goes to show, any parking lot can be the site of an attack.

But being where it's at, I'm inclined to assume that the new owners will be invested heavily in making sure their patrons feel safe.

Not just the owners. Some of the community impact funds will be going to increased policing of the immediate area.

And by some, I mean $1.8 million for policing in year 1, and an additional $1 million for CitiWatch camera infrastructure.

Most, if not all, casinos in downtown Vegas charge a small fee for parking (typically waived for a certain amount/length of play).

Based on the proximity to both stadiums, as well as downtown and the inner harbor, I'd say there's a pretty good chance there will be an hourly charge for parking that would be validated/waived based on play in the casino.

As for game days (particularly football), I wouldn't be surprised to see a somewhat hefty flat fee. Parking in Baltimore is a premium, especially in high traffic tourist/business areas like this. If there's no charge for parking at the Horseshoe garage, don't expect to ever find a spot there.

That is already happening. Ravens "season parking pass" available for $500.

The casino isn't really that close to the harbor...it SEEMS like it is, but that's easily a 20 minute walk if not more. (I used to live on Hamburg St., which bisects the two stadiums, and I've done that walk plenty of times.)

As expected (for Ravens games)...

Quote:
On June 17, Horseshoe executives said the casino would charge for parking on Ravens home-game dates and a handful of other heavily attended events at M&T Bank Stadium. There will be no charge for parking on Orioles home-game dates. The baseball park is several blocks further north from the casino than the football stadium, but still within walking distance.
Basically, all parking at the casino on Ravens game days will be paid, except for top-tier casino customers. The Horseshoe will participate in Caesars Entertainment's company-wide Total Rewards players loyalty club, and members who have achieved Diamond or Seven Stars levels will get to park for free when the Ravens play.

Guess I'll be parking in Fed Hill and walking over for game day action?

I was reading up on Total Rewards - looks like we can expect 1 point per hour playing poker, and if I read right, they continue to accumulate over time. So - how many hours to get diamond or 7-stars? And will they roll over from year to year?
06-20-2014 , 10:39 AM
Never ever getting diamond playing just poker.
06-20-2014 , 10:43 AM
Platinum 5k tier credits
Diamond 15k tier credits

1 tier credit per $5 coin in for slots, $10 VP

So it's based on per-annum I gather as opposed to rolling over year to year?

Total Rewards points expire after 6 months of inactivity. Provided you play within that period again, they should be good.

Diamond requires 15,000 tier credits in a calendar year. 7 Stars 150,000.

Gotcha. So just need to play 41 hours a day...

This simply can't be right. It's been a while since I've played cash in AC, but I thought $1/2 use to be 32 an hour.

Nevertheless, Caesars upped the requirements for platinum and Diamond (and 7*) two years ago, while also lowering tier points per/hr for poker, thereby attempting to prevent people from hitting Diamond by poker play. Not sure if it's literally impossible now; but damn tough at the very least.

At Horseshoe Cincinnati, it is 17 pts an hour for 1/2 and 34 for 2/5 or more....I'm thinkig it was 883 hours at 1/2 for diamond.

Yes, REWARD POINTS expire after 6 months of inactivity. TIER POINTS are earned on a YEARLY basis and run from 6am January 1st through 6am January 1st the following year. Stevie is correct in the tier point requirements for diamond and seven star. In AC, 1/1 pays 17 tier/hour, 1/2 26 tier/hour, and 2/5 34 tier/hour. Do the math for Diamond, 7 Star is NO longer attainable on poker alone.

Not sure if Horseshoe Baltimore will follow AC, as not all Caesars Entertainment properties are standardized yet. I do know, from experience, that Harrah's in New Orleans is no where near what AC does for tier and comps. Hopefully they will all get on the same page, but 1/2 in AC has a different tier level all together as the buy-in is capped at 500 instead of 300, and the Super 1/2 therefore is above the regular 1/2 which also pays the same as 1/1.

I just did a search using Google News and found several news stories reporting that Horseshoe Baltimore will open some time in August. I also found this story that has pictures of the inside, but unfortunately no pictures of the poker room: http://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore...oe-casino.html
