I don't wanna say your gonna need some salt for your hat, but Horseshoe Cincinnati's valet looks very much like this.

Greebo, I'll make sure you know how to embed youtube videos when the time comes for the hat eating; just PM me when you have the video.

Hmm. Guess I'd better get a hat.

I wonder if I can get one made of sugar?

Wasn't it Lady Gaga who wore a skirt made of steak?

Lots of tasty things one could make a hat out of. You just need to be a little creative.

How about a gingerbread hat, for example? Or weave one out of licorice sticks!

^^^ I like the licorice hat idea - black licorice in particular.

Would it be sufficient if, since I can weave a hat out of licorice string, I just eat the licorice string without all the effort?

If ever there were clear justification for a swift banning...

So the angle shoot's too obvious, huh?

Fine, fine, I'll begin weaving.

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself to this thread, which I'll now be following closely. I live roughly 8 minutes away by bike over in Federal Hill, so I'm super excited for the easy commute. I'm originally from NJ, moved down here about 3.5 years ago, and was mostly an online player. Not super experienced in live, but I've played my fair share in AC. I've been driving back to NJ every now and then to get some online action in on the weekends, but it looks like I'll be sticking to Baltimore come August.

Mostly a tournament/sit-n-go player, don't do too much cash, but might have to dabble depending on the tournament/sit-n-go structures/buy-ins/times. Excited to see what Horseshoe has to offer.

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys in the poker room. Cheers

Are you a big fan of cheese steaks perchance?

I wonder if the poker room opens along with the rest of the casino. I hope so! Otherwise, it's gonna be a longer wait - as has happened elsewhere.

I lived in Towson for a year and would always get cheese steaks at The Real Thing, but other than that you probably wouldn't know me from eating cheese steaks haha. I think Fat Larry's is good but way overpriced, and haven't really found anywhere else in Fed for good cheese steaks.

I think the poker room will open pretty quickly if not immediately. Maryland Live! was a different situation considering poker wasn't legal when it was built, and they had to build the whole new poker room once it became legalized. But yeah, hopefully we won't have to wait.

OK. Thought you were someone I knew from Magerk's...where you should DEFINITELY be getting your cheesesteaks. Maria D's not bad but less authentic.

My bad completely forgot about Magerk's... yeah the $5 cheese steak deal on Thursdays is a steal.

One of the dealers at Perryville said she's going to be working at Hollywood when it opens, so my guess is the poker room will be open on day 1. There was also some speculation last night (at Perryville again) about there possibly being a "soft open"?

Does anyone know what that means and if it's likely?

"Grand Opening" -- ribbon cutting, press, city, state, and corporate officials, free food, ceremonial "first bet", etc

"soft opening" -- earlier, no hoopla, to "work out the kinks" so the "Grand Opening" will run smoothly, some services/games/restaurants may not be available

I was at the soft opening of the Delaware Park and Maryland Live poker rooms. I had heard that Perryville was having one right before they opened but initially the word was that it was invitation only (which turned out not to be true). A soft opening is a requirement from the state gaming commission, to have a test for a few hours to make sure that all the details of running a poker room (or entire casino) work out smoothly. I think a soft opening is more than likely - I think it is a requirement. It may only be for a few hours (2 or 3 or 4) one afternoon, and afterward the state gaming employees go back to their offices, have a meeting, and then agree that everything is working correctly. Then they approve the final gaming license for the location.

How does one find out about a soft opening and get a chance at participating?

any good options for hotels? I assume nothing is attached.
06-28-2014 , 05:46 PM
There's a holiday Inn express like 10 feet away, and about 40 others within walking distance. None are terribly cheap though. Pretty much same situation as MDL.

 I will spend whatever time is necessary to address your problems and concerns.

Only worse, cause you're downtown and not out fairly near the airport, so the hotels are more expensive in general, and so is the food in the surrounding area.

That said - the Casino will be a 10 min walk from the Hamburg St. Light Rail station, and the light rail can transport you to/from the airport and hopefully cheaper hotel options.

But walking that route at night is not recommended...

I heard about the other ones through reading 2+2. If there is a soft opening, or details about opening day, I'm sure someone will post about it here.
