There are 2 hands were durrr makes the nuts with 79, one was in NLH and the other in PLO, in both hands Patrick makes a boat on the river. In the NLH hand Durrr´s insta laydown is very very sick and scary. In the PLO hand, his fold is somewhat standard, and moreover, I dont like his lead on the river after Patrick had been betting all streets, since betting here with his hand doesnt have much value and it sort of looks like a "blocking bet" which obv doesnt exist so it makes this bet kinda bad. c/c > b/f here IMO, and both alternatives are equally expensive in this spot for durrrr.

Overall, Durrr played awesome poker, but Im a HU player, and I think other mid-high and highstakes HU players would agree with me that many of durrrs laydowns are being overrated here. There are some GREAT laydowns, but some are just tough but standard for a world class HU player. What was the most impressive to me was his capacity to keep playing optimally and not losing his head one bit, despite him knowing he was running like sht, and the velocity with which he was able to make some hard laydowns.

Patrick played pretty well besides running like god, but he didnt play optimal a couple of hands to get maximun value out of Dwan, although its hard to judge this in world class HU matches cuz theres just so much psicology involved in the whole session, and there are several reasons to make several plays in any given hand. But he played well in general, although I think durrrr played better overall just cuz evrything was given for him to lose his whole buyin, and he only lost half.

a lot of people say durrrr is overrated. but theres a reason why he is a nosebleed reg and not a 5/10 grinder. I was very impressed at how he continued to keep laying down hand after hand. probably 90% of the poker world would go on massive tilt and start calling off towards the end thinking they're getting bluffed or that theres no way pa could have that many hands.

I thought the PLO was just as entertaining as the NLH hands. The play by Andrew Noble was sick how he called off his chips with top one pair on the flop with no draws. This shows that they should have some PLO episodes in the next series of HSP.

I agree! It was great to see Durrrr and Antonius' holdings after railing them on FT. Hopefully this will start a trend. HSP and PAD should both do Omaha cash game shows.

Also, think of the lineup you could draw with mixed HE and PLO on HSP season 6 --

Antonius, Dwan obvious will want to play with anyone. Ziigmund for sure. Benyamine will want to come. Ivey maybe.I have a feeling Sammy Farha would love his favorite game combined with the spotlight and tv-time. Sammy in turn might attract a few name players -- Negreanu once expressed a desire to play headsup PLO with Sammy, maybe some other Big Game regulars. Maybe even Brian Townsend with his newly polished PLO game.

Would be sooooo fun. Does Eli Elezra enjoy PLO?

What do you guys think of the music in the background and the sound effects when a card comes off on the community or when a player calls, raises, or folds? I really like it. It fills the silence during hands and in moments where there is no table talk/commentary. In general, it'll make the public more entertained as well as it has a much more polished feel without being over the top like the Poker Dome Challenge. Loving it so far.

i wasn't into the background music really, although i guess it made it feel less.. empty? i think most of this board didn't like it, but if it makes it more appealing to casual viewers that would be a good thing

The background music is too dramatic, and so are the hissing drum cymbals when the turn/river comes.

And the sound effect for a bet is just too much like a computer prompt (MSN messenger?), which is just weird. Using the FTP default sound effects would be an improvement.

Basically, the audio sucks.

It reminds me of the PAD director's cuts, where they insert jazzy back ground
music. Lame.

Notice how HSP doesn't need sound effects. That's because Gabe Kaplan and AJ are pretty animated and chatty.

Whereas Ali Nejad is minimalist, so there's a lot of silence.

The background sounds weren't BAD... they were just too obvious / loud. By the last episode I was used to them.

lololol @ Patrik: 'Sammy used to do this to me'

Im 100% sure this is a level...

I thought it sounded like an old NES game about the part where you had to enter some pass key to skip levels.

DAAAA daaaa DAAAA...

FSN is horribad at just about everything. Their College football coverage is so bad I almost cant watch when USC plays in the PaC10 and im a college fb fanatic.

Oh and LOL at Bart getting his big break; all those years of live at the Bike finally paid off....also looks like he has gained about 35 lbs in the last couple years. Nothing like live play to help your body feel its best.

Even though it's HU, I thought that was a standard laydown with 79, given the board texture. He has the weakest hand that can be valued, and it's hard to imagine PA check-raising for value with a worse hand on that board (which narrows it down to higher straight, full house or bluff?). A 1-bet bluff is possible, but a check-raise bluff is pretty unlikely on that board...
