I'm starting to view yogg losses as the poker mindset of "well, you know, like 80% of the time i win there, so i got my (money) in good"


i just got a mage down to 5 hp with savage roar in hand for lethal next turn, he yoggs and gives him some insane board of like 9/9s (multiple wisps of the old gods + stand against darkness) and 1 paladin secret. I could have yogg'd myself but decided to yolo and attack face and it wasn't the 2/1 defender thank ****. I was like at 29 hp and had been steamrolling him the whole game.

yogg losses can be annoying but i still dont think it hurts the game, oh well, know i'm in the minority

Yogg is great for the game. When Tuskarr Totem gives you a 3/4 instead of a 0/2 on Turn 3, it's as ridiculous as the stuff Yogg does but less flashy and you just feel like you never had a chance. Or when Rag hits a token instead of the enemy's face.

There has to be comeback mechanics in the game or else it'd be a battle of who could zoo better.

which is a good point, but you can definitely, definitely play around yogg. And any deck that luggs around a 10 mana card that depends on you running a ****load of spells that you have to cast during the game for it to even work has an inherent disadvantage. cards like arcane giant negate this disadvantage, which is why i think it'll be nerfed to 15 mana, but clearly they want decks that run a lot of spells. This wasn't really possible or practical before especially with loatheb running amuck. some people don't like spells. I happen to like spell heavy decks, so yea I like yogg but even in my tempo mage i'll cut him in a ridiculously aggro meta.

the same people like reynad that complain about "curvestone" where you drop a 2 drop on 2, a 3 drop on 3, etc. etc. til you win arena style is boring and linear and no one wants to play it. which is correct, that is boring as ****. so the answer to playing a boring game where you just drop big minions on curve is spells - so yogg and arcane giants were the dev's answer.

i'm probably going on too much but i swear to god if i have to listen to one more cast that includes 20 minutes of pros waxing poetic about how bad it is for the game and the competitive scene is gonna die because of it i'm gonna puke.

yogg is less rng deciding games than three years of did you draw war axe/wild growth on turn 2

This has to be one of the best turn 6 plays possible. Innervate + Innervate + Avianna + Coin + Alex + Rag = effectively 23 points of damage.

I have made peace with Yogg and accept Hearthstone, especially competitive Hearthstone, will never be taken seriously. No Yogg doesnt mean curvestone, devs could steer it towards less-RNG but skillful matchup like Freeze Mage vs Renolock.

Simple and perfect solution would be moving it to Wild. That's where fun players supposed to have all the fun. Leave Standard for the tryhards.

But fine, I'll just watch competitive CS:GO and Dota instead.

What's the counter of Midrange Shaman? I'm literally 15% against that deck.

Does MR shaman run spirit claws now? My pre-Karazan decklist was 50%-ish and got trucked so hard by hunters that I stopped playing it altogether

there are decks such as freeze mage with a very favourable matchup against mid range shaman but these decks have quite a few bad matchups too, unless you're Laughing I guess

How do you guys manage the Hearthstone grind (ladder climbing till legend)and the poker grind?

It seems, I cannot try-hard at Hearthstone without it affecting my poker. The only month I reached legend, I was playing stakes I didn't care really and wasn't studying any poker at all.

I have a competitive personality, so whenever I play a game, I want to be one of the best at it and can become pretty addicted to it.

i might actually get past rank 5 with this miracle druid, **** feels OP when you hit your draws.

i mean there's nothing like being at 8 health vs a smug shaman with a 2/6 doomhammer thinking he's got a double rockbiter lethal even if you heal, when you slam down 2 feral rages innervate into double arcane giants. damn. what other deck can do that ****?

I will never make LEGEND for the same reason I never made a living at poker: I go on tilt too easily. I've lost count of how many games I've lost conceding on turn 5 when my opponent just curves out perfectly and has an answer to everything I do.

Yeah just conceding is what i do when i tilt. "Oh you have tunnel trogg on turn one?!?!? **** this game im out." *presses the play another game button*

I'm still a moron when it comes to effectively trading on board so I always prefer damage bursts from hand ala Leeroy Jenkins and charge minions or Malygos.
