Congrats Derby.

I pick up my new whip tomorrow. Decided on an 06 F150. Kinda pumped. Not very baller but neither is winter.

Thanks!

F150 is quite the unit, congrats! They only sell them here if they are specifically imported I believe.

Warren Buffet just made "an all-in bet on the future of America" by buying a railroad for $26 billion. Nice to know that railroads are the future of America ...

Josem, I agree w/ DD and Deurdy, "Taken" and "Man on Fire".
11-09-2009 , 05:24 PM
Actually, there more of a story to this one:

My Dad died two years ago, and his girlfriend who is still living in his house in Montreal has lied and obstructed us ever since. Not sure yet, but I expect she has committed numerous offences of a fraudulent nature. Out of respect for my Dad, my siblings and I have let it go this long without putting too much pressure on, but enough is enough, so I'm now being appointed as liquidator, and my sister is paying for me to go and sort it out.

I have a simple plan: I'm going to turn up at the house and announce that I'm moving in. I'm definitely not easy to live with, so I hope she'll soon agree to move out

No idea how long I'll be there, but I plan to stay until the house is sold. I think she'll really get the message when I sell the furniture, fridge and cooker.

I don't think either of us is going to have a pleasant Xmas.

Dammit I saw it in a thread and asked if I could use it. I've never seen any of the people using it. What is it a bunch of HU LHE dweebs? Also people change their avatars all the time. Get used to it. Freakies was going one way or another.

Land baby, tons and tons of access land in every state at a price he'll never be able to get again. The all-in stuff is just cheerleading.

I've heard that the Man on Fire book was much better than the move. Confirm/deny?

Passenger rail is ok compared to the alternative
Cars average 3,512 BTU per passenger mile and light rail averages 2,784, but a hybrid car is 1,659 BTU per passenger mile.

Heavy rail rules compared to the alternative
Rail is 341 BTU per short ton mile
Truck is 3,357 BTU per short ton mile

I think Buffet is betting on increasing prices for fossil fuels.

Haven't read the book, in fact >90% of the books I've read in the last 5 years are either poker related or supply chain management related...
If the book is better than the movie, it should be a good read though.

Literally the only fiction book I've read in the last 6 years and enjoyed. It was a rando HS graduation gift. I think the last before this was "The Count of Monte Cristo". Someone life pwned me into reading "The Alchemist" a few weeks ago. If any book or movie ever insisted on itself its that one.

Peru,

have you asked her to just simply move out?? .... Or tell her she has a month cuz the house is gonna be sold??? i might not be understanding this correctly

but if you have and she still refuses, why should you have to put up with it and suffer thru living there away from your family? ..... Im sure the authorities could take care of this...

xPeru has a very specific set of skills.

Buying a truck for winter driving is like buying an suv for safety.

As for books...I'm currently reading this:

and it's great so far.

Watched that movie over 7 times, which prolly puts it in the top 10 of movies I've seen most, but after about 6 times you start appreciating it less and less..
Tbh, I loved it the first two times (in my defense I was still a teenager then..), but there are some pretty lol scenes, such as the drop from the plane wheels in the swamp..

xPeru should move in and hang on in quiet desperation. It's the English way.

She said she was going to move out a month after my father died, then she gradually changed her tune. Doesn't answer the phone, won't reply to lawyers letters etc etc. As the liquidator, I will have the full ownership rights that my father had, so I can legally move in, even if I have to break (one of my own) windows to get in - my lawyer won't do this! I have the right to sell the house etc, but; she lives there, and unless she agrees to move out, I have to get a court eviction order and then enforce it.

She's basically buried her head in the sand and hoped we'll go away. I strongly suspect that just by my turning up, she will accept the inevitable and finally come to terms with reality. I don't really want to upset her, but I haven't got any choice now.

The "authorities" won't get involved in a civil dispute, and the court system will take another year to 18 months to resolve it. Direct action is best.
