Micro, I'm really liking the looks of naked sports bikes these days. Have a job interview Thurs for a better paying job. If I get I'll probably buy a bike this season.

I had a Honda Hawk NT650 for years which I loved dearly.

It was a little small for me (6'2.5") and I sorta want something a little faster. The Hawk is a great bike though.

The bike I posted before is a Honda 919, which is CBR900 naked and tuned better for the street.

Tbadr, fight the ticket. Those yellow/black signs are advisory only and afaik you can't get speeding citations based on those posted limits in any jurisdiction. The posted limit is marked different because of that reason, it's an advisory limit and not a regulated one.

I believe you can get a ticket in those zones for just generally going too fast (ie cited for driving at an unsafe speed, or cited for reckless driving). You shouldn't however have gotten a ticket for exceeding an advisory posted limit.

In college I had a professor who was a criminal defense attorney. He had a client who went to prison for being busted with a kilo of coke. The kilo was found after he consented to a search of his vehicle when pulled over for speeding.

The client was pulled over for doing 36 in a 25 mph zone. His attorney (my prof) went out to the road he was pulled over on and found the posted speed limit was actually 35 mph rather than the 25 that the officer had claimed. The attorney then found an expert in radar guns who testified that the guns had a margin of error greater than 1mph, so in theory the defendant may not have been speeding at all. The whole case was tossed. I don't believe he got the cocaine back.

Thnaks for the info Devin. CQ, that's a crazy story, that's what prompted to look up in the first place because I remember the officer saying I was doing 48 on a 35 but the ticket said 48 on 25. I was hoping he misreported the posted sign and it was then that I discovered it was a yellow/advisory sign.

@micro, unless you plan on using a welder down the line, pay the medium and get somebody to do it.

If you still want to go ahead, I advise MIG and you will want a gasless wire.

Also not too worried about fuel lines, just make sure none are near, and take precautions to cover them from sparks, etc..

The self shielded wire is pretty ****ty.

Thx Doc. I've received the same advice about using gas shielded mig a few times now.

It may end up taking up space I don't really have and getting used only every few years, but I'm getting attached to the idea of being a welder.

So little Johnny is playing in some waste ground and comes across a pair of welder's goggles. Great! He puts them an an is soon MIG welding to the full extent of his childish fantasies.

A car draws up and a sleazy guy calls to him--"Hey, kid, want to get some free sweeties?"

Little Johnny ignores all school and parental advice and gets in the car.

"Tell me little boy," says that rather unsavoury driver, "do you know what masturbation is?"

"No" says 7 year old Johnny.

"Do you know what cunnilingus is?"

"No" says Johnny

"What about anal sex?" finally asks the driver

"Listen Mister," says Johnny, "I'm not a real welder!"

That was a little too hot for my ears in the morning, I'll have to tuck my boner between my legs now.

Probably the vast majority of people busted with contraband consented to searches when they didn't have to. People get nervous and easily cave to police who are trained in what to say (and how to say it) when asking a suspect for their consent. Just watch a couple episodes of cops and see how often it happens.
05-10-2014 , 03:05 AM
Yeah was rhetorical; but to be fair they prob dont air the episodes of COPS where people with contraband didnt consent to searches.

Penn Supreme court rule last week that cops dont need a warrant to search vehicles so it'll all be moot here soon

and so it begins D: wonder how heavily this will be abused despite the fact that they still need 'probable cause'

Justice dept et al has been going warrantless for over a decade so Im sure they can give them some pointers and how to dot and cross the non existent Is and Ts.

Seems like every day since Ive relocated Ive been given more reasons to be thankful I was forced to discover there's a world outside of that sinking ship of Corporate Fascism. Think it's quite fitting that I not only had to emigrate from the country my ancestors immigrated to for work, but the old adage that you can't appreciate the freedom America grants until you live outside it turned out to be patently false.

Sports and TV/Movies tho. /rant

The old adage is, "You can't appreciate the freedom America grants until you live in North Korea."

You must have missed the last part.

happy mothers day to all the sttf moms

Average age ITT has risen dramatically over the years. Back in the day I could probably score a younger woman if we traded mothers around here.
