I don't think I'd be able to say anything. I'd just fall over laughing.

That said. How are you not happy in a country with the world largest welfare state when you can make $250 an hour and not pay a cent in taxes. Well Denmark doesn't have the american dream, we're doomed to live mediocore lives, so getting up at 6 am in some desolate province, spending one hour or two riding the train to get to work in Copenhagen, repeat 8 hours later the other way .. then end day with dinner in your little garden and a wee bit of TV before going to bed and you've lived the dream!

I on the other hand have polish parents, so without that heritage, I'm going nuts three to four times daily .. cest la vie.

I have a feeling that the poles offer some pretty solid competition in this contest, I mean ... I've been raised with the notion that saving up for the future is risky, cos you never know when the germans will invade (not to mention the russians)

But meh .. I rant and it didn't come out very funny ... but the good thing about denmark is this ... I've had my job for a year now ... In five months time I go on three months paternal leave .. then I return for half a year and if my roll and results are ok by then ....

... I can request a year off in order to 'travel' or whatever ... live of poker for a year and if it fails my job is still waiting for me.

This we can thank Lenin for

Aye Captain .. A fine stretch that that is !

But it is slowly getting to me, I'm on a "If I just make it to my parental leave, then all will be good" schedule

I'm pretty unhappy that the USA is ranked 16th.

i heard you have to pay some sort of ridiculous fee like $200/yr for every house with a tv or computer so you can watch crappy public television. Also that the tv people are always keeping an eye on you to make sure you don't have an unregistered tv. lol. any truth in that?
07-02-2008 , 06:51 AM
also dumbfounded that many danish ppl think it was a good idea for that newspaper to publish the mohammed-with-a-bomb-in-his-turbin cartoon.

wanna go and visit denmark really bad tho, fwiw.

It's true in Ireland. I can't even pick up local stations with rabbit ears, yet they still charge the license fee (although I do have Sky which gets them). Surprisingly, the Irish stations have decent programming (decent sports and lots of US programs like Lost).

Some truth, but some exaggeration too. The fee is in that order, but I don't think it's ridiculous. There's a clear purpose for public television to serve here in Finland and I think it does its job just fine. I for one think public television has generally higher quality than its commercial alternatives. But I think TV is pretty much redundant anyhow so the point is somewhat moot.

"Always keeping an eye on you" sounds a bit too dramatic, but, sure, there are people who go around making sure you have the license if you have a TV. But that's just common sense, you can't expect everyone to voluntarily pay their fee if it's not forced in any way. (Much like you can't expect everyone to not go around hitting or shooting each other if you just say so.)

Ya thats how it works here. You pay 2k DKK a year to watch the Danish national television and to listen to the national radio. Now they changed the rules so you have to pay even if you just have a computer. Because zomg we cant have people not paying to the national socialistic propaganda channel.

But its ironic. Everyone has to pay. For poor old people the license is significant but for wealthy people its no biggie. Basically you need to be a ****** to find such socialist crap a good idea

Hells yeah.

Just because some backassed people have some backassed ideas about religion you have no right to enforce those backassed ideas on me in my own country (I'm not Danish but I stand by their right to post those drawings).

Exactly. I was so pissed when Comedy Central balked at showing the Mohammad that the South Park guys put in part 2 of the Family Guy episode, especially since they had already shown him in the super best friends episode.

Anyone else have one limit in particular that just annihilates them?

I keep thinking that one day, I'll start running good at 30/60. But every day it gets worse. Such a sick way to offset my 50/100 heater

I actually learned to recognize a Danish accent by playing $2/5 at MGM during the WSOP last year. It was like 50% Danes making "loose Scandinavian calls" and pwning poor touristas. Pretty entertaining.

Yes, and it's completely lame. I actually skipped $2/4 for these reasons. I found $3/6 much more cooperative. I went down and got a little justice when I was retooling my game, though. Once you start crushing the $100/200 you'll make $30/60 obey, though.
07-02-2008 , 01:08 PM
boc, I'm the same way. I've won about 20BBs at 30/60 and 500BBs at 50/1 over around 80k hands between the two limits. didn't start out that way tho, when i first took a shot at 30 i ran hot as ****, but since then ive totally tanked at that limit while running quite hot at 50

Its not a "socialist" tax its a kop tax which is rather conservative imo (never mind that the socialists introduced it afaik).

Tryp,

I think the underlying answer here is just that 50/100 games are easy. I'm only half-kidding.

At the very least, I know I game select 50 better than 30
