Yeah, because you know instead? The version given by the seller conflicts with what Oprah said, but beside that you think this is the first time somebody walked in a luxury store and asked to see a very expensive item and the seller decides not to? I am far from denying that there is still racism in the world and in Switzerland in particular given the news object of discussion, but this is not one of those cases, it is just Oprah trying to see racism where there is not. As said if I walk in the same store I am also not going to be able to get my hands on that purse and my hands are not black.

The salesperson has a Black friend, so couldn't possibly be racist.

Oprah don't play that game.

The evidence is, we have a very astute observer of the human condition who was there.

Racism deniers trying really hard to just stick the tip in.

I do love how the racism deniers can never hold in their racism. They always gleefully move from joking about how they can't make jokes, to using code words but "not" in a racist way. ...to a few weeks later when they've been banned five times for starting threads ranting about biracial marriages.
08-11-2013 , 04:35 AM
Yup. The requite ignorance to be a racist means you are way too stupid to pull off being clever about it. It also means that people like Oprah get you real mad.

I hope this still isn't about my joke, I thought you were smarter than that Dids? It wasn't intended to be read as a serious post, I thought that was pretty obvious, but if a few idiots are unable to detect sarcasm then it doesn't bother me if the same few people think I'm a racist.

Black president tho. Anyway, blacks are more likely to be felons, and until they take care of that, they can't expect to be treated like everyone else. Or not randomly arrested.

I"t's funny, because many of the most racist people strike me as the sort who wouldn't just slink away when "dissed."

You're a **** poster who either has only been here a month, or much more likely is returning from a ban. There is no reason to give you credit for being funny when you're a duck out there looking exactly like a duck.
08-11-2013 , 11:01 AM
Lol I don't care if you found it funny or not, my argument was anyone who isn't a idiot could see the post wasn't serious. But whatever, chill out.

Setting aside our mutual opinions of each other- there are people in this forum making serious posts that look exactly like that. It's subject matter that defies parody.

Yeah I understand that, and I'm sorry if anyone was offended by what could be perceived as a serious post; I honestly thought it would not come across that way.

Hard to get a good read with that weird ass avatar. At least it's not prince charles or whatever.
08-11-2013 , 12:26 PM
It's Karl Pilkington from The Ricky Gervais show

Yeah- simp's avatar, even though I know the source, is so much worse than Karl.

Having an ugly baby must suck. I'm so overjoyed that the likely closest thing I'll ever have to a kid (my best friend's son) is in the 99% for cute by the acclimation of everybody who's met/seen him ever. Having to pretend like he wasn't a wildebeest would have been awful.

You hatin in the old school ugly baby avatar? It's a classic. Ive had multiple ppl say they got a chuckle from it. Pretty sure most ppl with ugly babies don't consider them ugly. Also, i have no special connection to ugly baby thread, it was just hot when I was looking for an avatar.

If ppl care at all I'd subject it to avatar survivor in this thread. I'd even start with a -1 from your vote.

Good thing I checked your links before spewing.

But in that vein:

A dangerous and violent culture.

Which inspired:

My best friend is white. My mom is white.

Watching cuccinelli on TV. Take Ryan, gov. McDonnell, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker. Seems half of the brains in the GOP go straight to the jaw line. Palin probably counts. Ugh, wrong thread.

I don't mean to criticize our friends in Switzerland but generally the point of "stores" is to sell the items instead. You appear to be claiming that this store has a "no showing stuff to customers" policy. That seems a poor retail strategy!

On a related note:

Racists are really bad at defending racist content as non-racist. Like 90% of the time they forget their act and end up just being super racist, so we see on CNBC this lady eventually argues that THINKING ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE POOR isn't racism. Like DJ is making the same point, these people are so stupid they think the issue here is that Oprah is falsely accusing the store of not selling to black people, but what's she's clearly actually doing is accusing the store of being racist by thinking she couldn't afford it.

And DJ and Erin Burnett, again because they are very stupid, immediately defend the store by arguing exactly Oprah's side! Amazing.

Jesus christ, the excuses the shop owner is making:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23633768

"My salesperson wanted to give her the handbag in her hand. But she didn't want to take the bag," claimed Gotz.

"I didn't take care of [Winfrey]. I'm sure she felt like this - but my salesgirl promised me she took care of [her] really the best she could. So it must have been a misunderstanding,"

"She tried to show Mrs Oprah the same style in other qualities, because maybe she didn't understand what she wanted."

If you can magically thunkify race into poverty it becomes easier and more socially acceptable to discriminate while keeping plausible racism denialibility. All those lazy entitled poor people acting all uppity. Cite: Fast Food Thread.
