I guess without knowing numbers to any certainty there's not a lot of point in me speculating.
This scorched-earth push of Reigns has essentially eaten all of the WWE's seed corn and reduced the entire roster (sans HHH and Lesnar) to Iron Mike Sharpe status. I struggle to think of anything worse from the last 5 years of my return to watching (for example they somehow found a way to recover from the Bootista Rumble disaster).

I saw an interesting stat about how Reigns is searched on the internet by people in India as much as anyone in WWE including Cena. WWE seems to be extremely concerned about expanding to foreign markets now, and people in Japan, China, India etc. aren't necessarily going to realize or think Reigns isn't good on the mic, nor are they necessarily inclined to detect that someone is the chosen one and reject them.

Even with a language barrier I think that a guy getting booed everywhere he goes invariably hurts him everywhere else. These reactions seem to spread; even if they don't cause negative reactions in a more casual mark city, I do think they cause a lot more apathy from the crowd.

Perhaps, but they might also just think "Lol Americans booing this handsome guy that always wins"

I thought merch didn't even account for 10% of WWE's profits? If so, merch is a terrible reason not to turn someone

Maybe the foreign announce teams are telling the audience that his name is "Boooo".

Just got home in time for the Styles Owens match. From the lack of posts, I guess I didn't miss much?

The trash talk from Bubba in his match vs Golddust was hysterical.

Interestingly I feel like Roman looks a bit like a Bollywood star.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a part of it.
