Right and they think it was pretty much a direct result of the concussion suffered at the hands of Goldberg from that kick

Just up to the dog collar match now

Man, the Abdullah the Butcher vs Carlos Colon match was brutal, sticking each other with some spike thing, looked legit sore

Even the 2nd jobbery tag match had manager Gary Hart spike someone

Was early NWA wrestling always this brutal?

I have only ever watched 1987 - 94 WWF wrestling and there wasnt much blood in that span...

Crockett had a lot of blood in the early to mid-80s but it wasn't always that brutal. The WWF had a lot of blood in the early 80s too.

The WWE and Vince McMahon could be headed for trouble as sinking viewership has reportedly brought about some desperate measures.

Pressure has been growing on McMahon since early this year, when a failed launch of the WWE Network, along with a sinking stock price, hit the company hard. At the time, it was reported that shareholders were planning to oust McMahon, but the rumors have since died down, and McMahon appears to be keeping his job — at least for the moment.

For the WWE, the uncertainty has continued on through the summer. This week’s episode of WWE Raw saw a slip in viewers, falling 4 percent from the previous week to 3.826 million. That was due in part to the return of the NFL, as the Monday Night Football game between the Eagles and Colts drew away 14.891 million viewers, but it comes at a time the WWE needs to be growing its viewership rather than shrinking.

Many wrestling insiders sensed a bit of desperation from Vince McMahon in the latest RAW episode, which featured Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins — a match that is already scheduled to play out on pay-per-view.

Joe Marsalis of Rappler noted the following.

“I also don’t understand why Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins, a match already scheduled for this Sunday’s Night of Champions event, was given away in full and for free on TV. If you think this is a joke with an impending punchline, unfortunately, you’re wrong—they’re already billing the PPV match as a rematch. Is the WWE truly so desperate for ratings that they’d throw away what they told us was gonna be a special match? Never mind if shenanigans are going down in that same slot on Sunday — why would people tune in now?”

Rumors indicate that Vince McMahon could already be scrapping the idea behind the WWE Network, which was supposed to bring a major online presence to the company with streaming video of events. McMahon is reportedly considering putting the network on cable television, abandoning the premise behind the online hub in the hopes of raising television numbers.

There had been rumors in May that WWE advisers were telling Vince McMahon to pull the plug on the WWE Network in light of its disastrous debut.

“The mood is so bad… that some people within WWE were even openly speculating that Vince McMahon may have to pull the whole plug on the WWE Network soon, to stop the bleeding before it gets out of control,” noted Mike Johnson of PWInsider.

For now, Vince McMahon and the WWE appear to be staying the course, but insiders believe big changes could be on the way if ratings continue to slide.
Didn't think this would happen. Very sad news.

Let's not forget that Vince put the actually main event of the show on at halftime of the football game. Imo, WWE is dying a very slow death. With the NFL back, I choose that every Monday over Raw and catch up on PVR after the game. I find myself fast forwarding through most of it. I can't tell you who won the Reigns vs Rollins match and frankly don't care. Am I alone on this? I can't be the only one who sees little to care about in WWE these days.

Somebody also commented that they were watching old Nitros on the Network instead of Raw. That speaks volumes to me as well.

Edit: oops. Thought iso's post was in the Raw/SD thread. Oh well, I think my reply still fits here.

Surely they cant scrap the idea now?

It will be a sad day when I have to go back to watching grainy you tube clips

Vince needs to read this article and take some notes

I've worried about that very thing happening from early on. Hopefully it doesn't have any legs.

Not at all. The sad thing is I actually try to care.

Apart from some cool kicks, KENTA's in ring debut was pretty average. He makes Justin Gabriel look big. Hopefully they can do something interesting with him but I've already seen people calling MEHNTA.

There were 22 posts from the start of RAW until 4am est in the viewing thread. Half of those were probably LKJ and then two others sharing the other 11. I don't think you're the only one.

That post count has to be an all time low for a RAW. It's especially bad because Lesnar was guaranteed to appear.

This would be especially bad since I didn't watch more than five minutes of Monday's show.

What's the source on that "news"? Seems like a lot of rumors and speculation.

Per Shoemaker, the Vince being forced out story is BS (or was when it came out a few months ago). Nobody owns enough of the stock to do that.

The Network being sold story that popped up last week appeared to be somebody without a clue misunderstanding a licensing deal.

Giving away Seth/Roman might be dumb- but the booking being dumb is hardly evidence of desperation.

I copied and pasted the whole thing into google and apparently it's originally from this - http://www.inquisitr.com/1480745/wwe...gles-continue/

If you look at the most popular and featured articles, it should give you an idea of what type of site it is.

Just two of them were me.

I'd love for them to give me a reason to watch, but mostly these days I'm just left to drop snark here and there when I see that thread bumped.

There is some guy on reddit that is selling WWE Network subs for $60 for an entire year through a gift subscription. YMMV, it could be some sort of scam but I fell for it regardless. Basically you can only activate it on an account that has an expired subscription (which I did). Then I paypal'd him $60. According to him (or her) they get the network at a discount because they work with some sponsor that gets discounts with WWE products, and the WWE Network 12 month gift subscription is included. 12 months for $60 is even better than 12 months for $120! If there's a potential for a scam here I'm not too sure what it could be, and I guess I could always reverse the paypal payment if something goes wrong

As long as they keep ads at the level they've said and don't start interrupting programs/shows with them, I don't really mind.

Im up to Wrestlemania 2 now on my consecutive timeline watch of network content

A few observations from shows thus far

* Lol at WCW commentators calling suplexs, suplays

* Lol at all the little titles on the line in WCW early ppvs eg mid atlantic heavy weight championship

* Crazy how much blood on these early WCW ppvs there actually was, almost every match on Starrcade 85 had blood and seemed legit brutal

* Lol at just how cartoony 1985 WWF was, how anyone could suspend their disbelief at the antics going on is insane

* Lol that kayfabe was kept to so diligently when storylines and shows were so ******edly unbelievable

* You can really see the different approaches between Jim Crockett and Vince Mcmahon shine through, Crockett more realistic/sportish where McMahon was going for cartoon violence entertainment

* The patrotism of 80s USA was out of control, and everyone should rewatch the Hulk Hogan Real American music video for lols (Its on the 2nd Saturday Nights Main Event in 1986)

Now time to struggle through Wrestlemania 2 ughhh
