The thing i always remember about the Funkasuaras was how this forum was eagerly awaiting Brodus to return. His debut got pushed back a couple of times and everyone expected him to be some monster heel.

Then he was introduced along the lines of "After weeks of anticaption from Planet Funk" that brought some wtf's "Please Welcome the Funkasuaras" a little more wtf's. Then Somebody Call My Momma hits and the lol's followed.

That's what his vignettes were for before his debut was pushed back. Should've stuck with that, obviously.

Decided to watch HIAC 12' this morning. Few things...

I'm pretty sure this was Sin Caras first PPV with the WWE. Regardless, he drop himself on his own head kinda and gave himself a concussion. Got a solid lol out of me.

The Sheamus vs Big Show Brouge Kick vs WMD thing was pretty cool. This was during a down point in my viewership, but I definitely remember watching it play out each week over Raw/SD.

My God. Ryback was SOOOOOOOOOOO over. Why why why did this gimmick get squashed again? I'm sure there was a great reason behind it.

I thought the ending was different. I thought The Shield interfered to help Punk retain. Maybe I'm thinking of a different PPV?

2012 is a huge blur for me apparently.

that happened v the rock. and then the match got restarted.

I believe ryback got buried due to his matches being ****. And punk had some power at that point n probably could explain how bad he was

I agree though, was never my favourite. But he was hugely over

Strangely, I do not view the burial of Ryback as a tragic event.

Even though I wasn't watching I tended to be aware of most WWE things at a high level for the past seveal years just from it being mentioned by people I follow on various social media. Beyond knowing there was a thing called Ryback I managed to be nearly totally unaware of his deal, and just looking at him I have no idea why he's not a bigger deal.

He hasn't blown me away in the ring, but he's looked better than either Taker or Batista, so it's not like that matters.

What didn't work?

Can't talk at all. Very much a one-trick pony in his gimmick. Was turned heel for no good reason and isn't good at it.

They tried to start him out as a face? That answers it right there. Seems like he should just be able to RYBACK RULES his way to a monster heel push.

Few mention this, but the name "Ryback" is terrible.

I sure miss "Jobber talk" before his squash matches though.

Everybody here **** on it and ****s on it because it was Big Show and Sheamus. Match is clearly awesome though and nobody expected Big Show 1) kick out of the kick and 2) win.

Ryback works for me as a name. Maybe just because it sounds like Rhino, I have no idea. I prefer that to something like "Curtis Axel" which just seems so "we think this sounds badass".

the old school round table discussions are very cool. but i dont get why most of the guests slurp michael hayes like they do? gene jokingly (but he means it) calls him a future hof'er, and a few others said the fabulous freebirds were one of the goat factions in all of wrestling history.

i hardly remember the freebirds at all. i think i saw them in some early 90s wcw matches before, but dont recall them being big attractions.

They are referring to the Roberts , Hayes . Gordy combo who were huge in Texas

Yeah the Freebirds certainly have their place in wrestling history. They're before my day too, but to my knowledge they were really big in the territory times.

What I viewed as tragic was pushing Ryback right to main event status. They were trying to portray him like an athletic freak (ala Lesnar or Goldberg) but athletically he seems more akin to Triple H. Once the fans figured out that Ryback was not superhuman, WWE buried him. I wish they would bury Batista as well but I'm sure they have too much invested in him.

The Freebirds-Von Erichs feud in World Class is legendary. Some of it is covered on WWE's retrospective DVD, well worth checking out.

I was watching the 1997 NWO Souled out show the other day when I came across this little gem. During the show, Bischoff was looking for Miss NWO. Apparently women (mostly ugly) had mailed pictures to Bischoff requesting to become Miss NWO....or perhaps nobody mailed in their picture which is why I found this gem at 23 minutes 9 seconds of the PPV there is a picture of a young Vicki Guerrero...at least I'm 99.5% sure it is her. The accompanying letter says her friends call her Myra but I just assumed the letter to be fake....errr scripted.

On an unrelated note, I was watching Starrcade 1996 and noticed a fan interfered in the main event. He was quickly subdued by Hogan and the ref. I'd be interested to know that guy's story lol

The warrior I documentary that just aired was really good. Highly recommend to those who did not see it on its first airing.

World Class documentary is A+

Regarding Ryback being pushed into the main event scene, it's not like they wanted to do it. They had to with Cena getting hurt for TLC 12.

Couldn't believe they showed Pat Patterson ask the butcher boy if he loved handling meat lol.

I am a reality TV fan in general so I was entertained but even I would agree this was not on par with similar reality shows (such as Surreal Life). That being said, I still find these old guys interesting, so I'll be checking back in.
