I did see that Thrawn has been cast for Ashoka. And Ewan McGregor's wife is playing Hera.

I feel like this season has been a bit aimless. In no rush to see this week.

Even if you can buy that David Wallace was in a desperate position to buy out the Michael Scott Paper Company, him agreeing to bring Ryan Howard back to a publicly traded company is beyond absurd.

I don't care if Ryan murdered his entire family, he's like a son to Michael.

It appears as if there are 3 Star Wars movies in the creative period. Tell me which one sounds like a ****ing disaster:

1 - James Mangold movie about the first Jedi and the origins of the Force

2 - Filoni and Favreau combine all their TV shows into a big event (Mando, Boba Fett, Ashoka)

3 - A story about Rey trying to train Jedi, originally to be scripted by Damon Lindeloff, but he dropped out because of creative differences. Kathleen Kennedy obviously knows what makes a better story than Lindeloff. WTF has he ever done? Meanwhile, she presided over the incredibly successful sequel trilogy.

Well, first of all, you posted this in the NVG thread and made me figure out how to move posts from one thread to another.

Honestly, they all have a chance of being bad, but I'm not going to be overly bearish on any until we're a lot closer to actually getting the movies themselves. I don't think that any of them are DOA. As a starting point, I was glad to see them stretch outside of the Skywalker Saga with two of the three.

Unfortunately Mando season 3 was mostly a bust. Sure hope Ahsoka can pan out in the way that I hope it can (and can draw viewers on top of that).

Just wanted to see if anyone was still paying attention around here.

I'll be content if Ashoka is Obi-Wan quality.

That Rey movie sounds like a complete disaster.

I'm hoping it will be better than that. I'm sure that Obi-Wan did well enough on viewership based on star power and nostalgia, but Ahsoka starts from a weaker position, and likely will have to outpace Obi-Wan for quality if it's actually going to be a successful show. I enjoyed Obi-Wan while I was watching it, but it didn't digest very well and I ultimately regard it as weaker than Book of Boba Fett even though the latter seems to get a lot more scorn.

Rosario Dawson is of course a proven star, but not on an Ewan level and she's also not playing a character that has existed in some form for ~45 years. I assume that SW animation fans make up a relatively small portion of the reliable SW viewer base, and of course then even a smaller portion of the pool of people who are willing to give SW stuff a shot if it looks good and/or gets good word of mouth.

Funny, I go the opposite way on Obi-Wan. Removed from it, I less remember the silly logical issues with the story and recall that we got live action prime Vader doing some really crazy ****.

I still definitely like Obi-Wan more than I like Mando S3. It wasn't bad, but I just don't think it holds up as very good. Haven't rewatched or anything though, so I'm just going off of my one-watch recollections (same as Boba).

I want to believe he didn't realize what he was saying and mispronounced the word. Is it possible to?

I can't tell whether it's impressive or even more concerning how well Dallas Braden no sold.

Good Lord.

I don't know anything about the guy, but my immediate reaction is that he probably says or at least thinks that word all the damn time. Your explanation only sounds plausible if he's not fully comfortable in English, which given his profession seems like a massive stretch.

Granted that I have no idea what a good apology for that even looks like, but this doesn't seem like it at all.

I've never even heard of someone using the slur in that context though. He was happy about his visit and wanted to promote the museum. But yeah, the word had to be in his mind. Then again, we all know the word. I don't know.

Maybe his apology came right after he had been alerted to what he'd said and told his ass was grass.

I feel like I'm certainly someone who could slip up and curse in an inappropriate setting, but I'm extremely confident that specific word would never come out. I don't think that "knowing the word" puts it on the tip of your tongue.

Certainly I don't think he meant to just drop that word in that spot unless he has some sort of career death wish, but I also don't think that slip happens to just anyone. I think it's more like something that happens to someone who has to spend 20 months of concerted effort on trying to get it out of their vocabulary.

Even so, I don't know WTF I would do about this if I were his employer. Determining "you are probably a secret racist who ****ed up" is fundamentally different than getting caught using a slur on a hot mic where there is no mitigating context.

Last 2 eps of Mandalorian weren't terrible once they got to the whole point of the season.

They were alright. But the unfortunate fact remains that I’m much less hyped to see a season four than I was to see season three. They dropped the show’s stock to a noticeable extent in my eyes.

That said the biggest S2 to S3 dropoff this year would still probably have to go to Ted Lasso. Disappointing **** there too. At least the final season of Succession is delivering.

Is it possible that they found out Pascal is leaving the show and were scrambling to redo the season in a way that they could (clumsily) shift the focus to Bo-Katan as "The Mandalorian" for S4?

Din Djarin and Din Grogu chilling on their porch could be their swan song possibly.

TBH, I'd be kinda glad. Pedro Pascal is such a dynamic personality (Oberyn from GOT is such an amazing character) that it kinda sucks seeing him tied down in 2 series where he plays stoic, emotionless characters.

I mean the season concluded by basically resetting to a promise of further Din and Grogu adventures to come, so I don't think that's it. Bo featured heavily this season, but it felt like that time probably ended with the way the season wrapped. I'm assuming she's back to being a recurring character rather than being the co-lead. The show will go where Grogu does; they would not give up on him as long as he's driving merch sales. Based on how things played out, it seems likely that they actually meant to write Grogu into the background for S3 with the way they wrapped S2, and that Disney forced their hand into a quick reunion. If it was a corporate mandate to keep Grogu in a prime position, I still wish he would have been off with Luke for longer; he still could have stayed on screen that way.

Since Pedro barely shows his face in the series, it's hard for me to imagine that they wouldn't be able to work out a mutually agreeable relationship with him that would allow him to continue even if he had an eye toward the door.

There were rumors of him leaving after either the first or second season too. Favreau said season four was already written a few days ago too. And, as mentioned, he would be a fairly easy replacement. Half the time it's not even him under the mask anyway.

Marvel officially rolling out Loki S2 in October. I gather that must mean they've arrived at a decision about what to do with Jonathan Majors. And that they must be keeping him on board for now.
