My thinking is that Owens/zayn and styles/nakamura will be good and both of the women’s singles matches will be good. Maybe we get terrible booking for one of those and end up with 3 awesome matches instead of 4, whatever that’s fine

I’m not optimistic about the IC match despite all the talent in it because it will probably just be a spot fest which I’m not into.

The original lesnar/Reigns was excellent but I just don’t see them pulling it off again. I don’t wanna take away what those guys did in the ring last time - they both killed it - but what made that match truly great is that nobody knew the outcome. Lesnars contract was in flux and we weren’t sure if WWE would commit to Reigns given the fan pushback. This time around the result is already set in stone and the crowd is going to be apathetic or ****ting on it the entire time a la Reigns HHH, it just doesn’t make for a good main event imo.

Problem is also that this will be super long and grueling to get thru. So even if we get 3 or 4 good matches by the time you get to the main event it feels like they happened yesterday

That's a good point about the first Lesnar/Reigns. Had it just been spear and 1-2-3, it wouldn't be remembered so fondly despite the great build-up in the match. Seth running out created a truly memorable moment and one of my favorite in WWE history.

Yeah it was one of my fav matches ever too

Exactly. I understand that maybe I'm in the minority and wrong about this, but I find it extremely hard to believe anyone wants a 4 or 5 hour show.

It's so dumb. More work for them, and less enjoyment for us.

I'm as sour on WWE as anyone, but this Wrestlemania won't be remotely close to worst ever. Forget WM 32, people are forgetting just how awful a lot of early Wrestlemanias were (specifically 2 and 9).

Last edited by antidan444; 03-08-2018 at 06:47 PM. Reason: I listed 7 and 11, but both of those had some redeeming qualities. 2 and 9 were just awful.

Personally I would rather sit and watch 9 than 11.

I can easily see the argument for 9 being the worse show. It was aggressively terrible in some ways that 11 wasn't. But I consider being bland and boring to be a greater sin than executing some really bad style/booking ideas. I don't find 9 to be that boring overall.

I went to 11 as a kid (and Diesel mark) & even I was disappointed. Looking forward to eventually going to a WM that isn't a coronation of Roman Reigns so I can say I've enjoyed going to one someday

Attending a WM sounds so awful. Between the commute, the show, and getting out of the parking mess to go home, plus the price... no thank you.

Those are some doozies for sure

I made sure to say “ recent memory” for a reason!

I've been to the last 2 and going to WM34 as well. I agree that the shows are way too long and WM32 was pretty terrible. Walking into the stadium last year and seeing the set was one of the cooler things I've seen in person though.

I make a point of taking in the whole experience by going to Axxess, Takeover, WM and Raw. Plus there's tons of great indy shows over that weekend. It's a lot of wrestling over 4 days, but it definitely makes the trip worth it, even if WM ends up being a dud.

Do you not go to the Hall of Fame? I've never been to a Mania, but if I was making it a big wrestling weekend, HOF would definitely be on my itinerary.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I don’t care much about the HOF. It would be kinda cool to see some of the legends, but hours and hours of speeches doesn’t do anything for me.

As far as rewatchability goes, its 9 over 11 easily. And I have to go back and check, but I think I have 9 rated below 11 on my list. I think I referred to 11 as the “Meh! Wrestlemania” Every single match was just the same 1 1/2 - 2 star blah fest that left me wanting to hang myself. Oh, and it had Diesel hulking up.

Watching spring training on MLB Network. Hulk Hogan in the stands seems to be drawing more attention than the actual game.

I wonder how mad Vince is for Cena agreeing to do this.

He isn't. Mainstream publicity.

idk, publicity or not, he was upset at The Rock sometime between 02-04 for portraying a gay character because of how he'd be looked at when he came back.

Mdot- yeah, I'm sure it's actually pretty awesome to make a whole weekend trip out of it. Especially if WM is in a cool town.

I guess my comment was actually kind of dumb because I was thinking about it as if I lived in the area; if you're doing it as a whole vacation event it's probably pretty baller.

The world is a much different place socially/culturally now compared to 2004.

It’s definitely a good excuse to go to a city you wouldn’t normally visit. My friend and I actually have done the Royal Rumble and WM the past 3 years, so we’ve been to Orlando, Dallas, San Antonio, Philly and now New Orleans.

My girlfriend shakes her head at all these “silly boys trips” haha.

Plans have recently changed, so Shane McMahon looks to be facing Dolph Ziggler at WM34. This finally gives Ziggler a marquee singles match at WM.
Shane just has to have a spot on the WM card because of course he does.

Dolph doesn't need to show the world that Shane sucks, it already knows

I don't love it either, but after the AJ-Shane match last year I'm willing to wait until it sucks before I say it sucks.

(Obviously I realize that Ziggler is no AJ.)
